About this property

This charming semi-detached Lakeland stone cottage is located in the village of Grasmere, a popular destination in the centre of the Lake District.

Tanner Croft Cottage is a two bedroom property with wood burning stove and breathtaking views, offering a cosy base for a two-couple or small family holiday in this beautiful Lake District village.

The cottage has a cosy charm the moment you walk into the open plan living space, with the sitting room centred around a feature fireplace that houses a wood burning stove. Both the sitting and separate dining area offer relaxing views across to the village. The kitchen has all the necessary amenities to keep your party well fed but retains the country living charm prevalent throughout the cottage. The first-floor bedrooms complete the accommodation, with a double and a twin continuing the cosy feel.

The cottage has a small gravelled garden area and from here you can relax on the garden seating and take in the views at the end of your day’s exploits.

Grasmere is steeped in historical charm, with all necessary amenities within walking distance. Perhaps try some famous Grasmere gingerbread as you wander through the village on your way back from lunch at one of the local inns.

Grasmere could not be more central, so everything is accessible from the village. A drive or bus ride will take you to everything the Lake District has to offer. Wind your way south to Windermere, or north to Ullswater to take in a choice of energetic water activities or a gentle cruise around the lake. Alternatively, simply embark on one of the many walking routes available almost from your front door.

Occupying a perfect spot in the countryside, Tanner Croft Cottage offers a small family or two couples a central location for a wonderful break in the heart of the Lake District.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family have been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century and Grasmere Lake

The pantry/boot room (with the boiler, under the stairs) was ideal for hanging coats and placing boots after a day's walk. The space was ideal. Unfortunately the bed was not too comfortable for our liking (appreciate this is a personal thing) but the double duvet was pretty small also. Lovely aspect over the fields. The next door neighbour was keen to impress the need to access their outside store. We were evidently aware of the parking instructions provide by LakeLovers in advance of arrival, but some understanding for 5 minutes whilst we were unpacking the car would have been appreciated! Suggestions for an improved stay: appreciate that items cost but arrival packages are welcomed and can be covered in the rental fee. Coffee, tea, milk, biscuits on arrival goes a long way! Kitchen roll and another hand soap in the kitchen is a must!

we have stayed here before but it needs a bit of maintenance work now, paint flacking in bathroom, no proper plug, rust on radiators , bedroom tv not working, sealant failed on bath...

We had Wi Fi until the Tuesday, then the router developed a fault (not a local issue with the signal). We phoned Sykes several times to make them aware of the issue but, despite trying to contact the owner for four days, they could not get in touch with them. We would not have booked a property without WI FI as we depend on it for business. The description states clearly that the property has Wi Fi and for most of our stay it did not. We paid for a property with WI Fi and not having this available is unacceptable. We feel strongly that recompense should be offered.
