    About this property

Centrally located for exploring the South Lakes, with Kendal, Coniston and Ulverston all within easy driving distance.
Located in the village of Lindale on the southern tip of the Lake District National Park and easily accessible via the M6 and A590; this semi-detached, single storey cottage is ideal for couples wanting a comfortable base from which to explore all that the South Lakes has to offer. Whilst the cottage is fully equipped for self-catering it also has the advantage of being next door to a great pub which serves food. The village also has a Post Office and small local store. A wider range of amenities can be found in the Edwardian seaside resort of Grange-over-Sands, 2 miles, including shops, supermarkets, pubs and cafés. There is also a nice promenade and park, and the surrounding estuary and countryside is a haven for birds and wildlife. You can actually walk through the woods from the cottage into Grange-over-Sands which takes approximately half an hour.
Other popular towns worth visiting within easy driving distance of the cottage include Cartmel, 4 miles, a traditional Cumbrian village famous for its sticky toffee pudding, race course and Michelin starred restaurant. The towns of Kendal, 12 miles, Windermere, 13 miles and Coniston, 20 miles all have plenty to offer day trippers. The market town of Ulverston, which is the birth place of Stan Laurel and home to the world’s only Laurel and Hardy Museum, hosts many events and festivals throughout the year. The southern tip of Lake Windermere is a 10 minute drive away where you can visit the Lakes Aquarium or take a boat out on the water. Coniston’s shores are just over 20 minutes drive from 1 Broomhill Cottage and here you can enjoy a quieter lakeside location with the Coniston Fells in sight, and a pier to launch boats. Over the border into Lancashire, the coastal town of Morecambe and the historic city of Lancaster are both within a 30-minute drive. Popular tourist attractions nearby include the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway, 7 miles, Lakeland Motor Museum, 6 miles, Holker Hall and gardens, 6 miles, Sizergh Castle, 12 miles, and Levens Hall and Gardens, 7 miles. Should you wish to take a break from driving, there are buses from Lindale into Kendal, and the train station at Grange-over-Sands has services into Carlisle, Preston, Lancaster, the Cumbrian coast and Manchester Airport.
Whilst most people visit the area to walk, there are plenty of other outdoor activities on offer. There is a golf course within 2 miles, a leisure centre with swimming pool at Kendal, 12 miles, and at Grizedale Forest, 13 miles, there is mountain biking, Segways and the Go Ape treetop adventure. Other popular activities include climbing, fell running and watersports. Offering something for everyone, this is a great base from which to explore all that this beautiful part of the country has to offer, and at the end of the day’s activities you can relax and unwind in front of the cottage’s wood burner or pop to the pub next door. "Had a lovely relaxing stay in this quiet cottage"
    SM ‐ 6 Nov 2018
"Lovely location. Local shop only open 8:30 - 1:00, but a COOP & Tesco express in Grange - less than 2 miles away, plus petrol station/ shop at Newby Bridge around 4 miles. Cottage had all we needed. . Very comfortable, the wood burner will only take smaller sized logs , which we weren't aware of until we bought a bag from the garage. We visited local towns, and further afield towards Western lakes, yet close enough to beaches of Morecambe and Blackpool. Had difficulty with outer front door locking, but it was a hinderance, not a major problem. There was a list of walks and available amenities, including places to eat, recycle advice laid out in the folder at the cottage. The local pub was very handy, especially as they allowed us to park our car, with consideration of course."

"Unfortunately I had problems with the heating. Other than that it was all ok. Probably the first cottage I have stayed in that is looked after by a cleaning company so it lacked all the little personal touches. I just wouldn’t recommend the cottage as I wasn’t particularly enamoured by it"

"We should have stayed at Broom cottage for 2 nights but only ended up staying 1 night as we tried to get heating on and couldn’t. No real good information in visitors book to help.Did contact owner but no help really. Thought owner may have contacted us later after our phone call to them to see if we had managed to get heating on but no. We were going to change duvet if thicker one there when took off duvet cover the duvet had seen better days our dogs covers seemed cleaner than that bits of it missing and not clean. Although cottage very small the rest was fine but no would not stay again"
    Suzanne ‐ 10 Sep 2018
"Bit small for two dogs, did not hear nothing from the pub next door, which was good."
    Emma ‐ 18 Jun 2018
"Very cosy (small) but the owners had thought of everything that might be needed. We were rather puzzled by the provision of just one set of towels for a couple and it was lucky that we had a spare with us. The Visitors Book contained references to a welcome pack and dog treats which we did not receive. This was the first week of a two week break and the cottage we have rented in Yorkshire through the same company for a similar price is far superior."

"A great little cottage that is well kitted out and in a super location for visiting lots of different places in the south lakes. Had a problem with house keeping when we first got there but one phone call to the service company and it was sorted pretty much straight away. Everything is included in the cottage that you could possibly need- just feel that the garden needs a little tidying up.Decent pub next door (voted one of the best restaurants in the area on trip advisor) which is nice for a drink or a meal."

"Stunning location had a fab week and no rain"

"This cottage could be lovely but it needs some TLC."
    Anthony ‐ 23 Mar 2018
"Compact & cosy little cottage. Ideal for 2 plus dog. Handy for Cartmel & Grange over sands. Would stay again."
    Nicola ‐ 17 Feb 2018
"Thank you for a fantastic stay in this ideal little property. Only things we might improve on are the sofa and the shower. Every thing else was so nicely fitted out, new and super cosy. Thank you!"
    Thomas ‐ 10 Feb 2018
"Upon arrival, We pulled back the quilt of the bed to find a lot of hairs, male & female. This bedding had obviously not been changed before previous guests so I spent 30 minutes with sticky tape trying to remove as much as we couldSat on the sofa to realise it was covered in dog hairs - we are not dog people so we found this pretty gross.Good location. Quite small. No stand up shower."
