You can actually walk through the woods from the cottage into Grange-over-Sands which takes approximately half an hour.

The market town of Ulverston, which is the birth place of Stan Laurel and home to the world’s only Laurel and Hardy Museum, hosts many events and festivals throughout the year. The southern tip of Lake Windermere is a 10 minute drive away where you can visit the Lakes Aquarium or take a boat out on the water. Coniston’s shores are just over 20 minutes drive from 1 Broomhill Cottage and here you can enjoy a quieter lakeside location with the Coniston Fells in sight, and a pier to launch boats. Over the border into Lancashire, the coastal town of Morecambe and the historic city of Lancaster are both within a 30-minute drive. Popular tourist attractions nearby include the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway, 7 miles, Lakeland Motor Museum, 6 miles, Holker Hall and gardens, 6 miles, Sizergh Castle, 12 miles, and Levens Hall and Gardens, 7 miles. Other popular activities include climbing, fell running and watersports. Offering something for everyone, this is a great base from which to explore all that this beautiful part of the country has to offer, and at the end of the day’s activities you can relax and unwind in front of the cottage’s wood burner or pop to the pub next door. "Lovely cottage in nice village. Next to pub but expensive to eat and no dogs allowed. Near to lovely villages."
    Karen ‐ 25 Oct 2019
"I had to mark cleanliness of 5 as the saucepans were put away dirty and there were grubby marks on the cushions. Otherwise everything else was good. Instructions for the heating and microwave wouldn't have gone a miss . And to anyone who relies on wifi (we don't) it's terrible! The bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately the local shop only stays open until 3 and check in time for the cottage is 4, so make sure you buy your essentials on the way!! Lovely location and locals in pub extremely friendly. Saying all this we have booked again for next year as it's an ideal location and fits our purpose."

"Good basic cottage, great location with everything you need."
    Charls ‐ 6 Jul 2019
"Welcome pack would of been nice on arrival as shop is only open certain days of the week. Husband had to mow the lawn for our 2 small doo, garden can do with a facelift. Wouldn’t recommend to a friend. Been to many cottages, was very Disappointed with this."

    "Lovely village,horrible cottage"
    Clare ‐ 16 Jun 2019
"The front door lock was jammed luckily my husband carried a toolbox so we were able to open cottage but couldn’t not risk using the lock again which left us fairly exposed , the cottage is desperate for more storage space and coat hooks are missing as are hooks for tea towels etc Tiling the bathroom window sill and fitting a shower curtain would make a huge difference The location makes up for all these gripes Lindale is beautiful and we found plenty of great OFF LEAD walks for our border terriers £380 per week is a more appropriate price given the limitations of the tiny cottage"
    Ken ‐ 11 Jun 2019
"bad stains and hairs on mattress cover and mattress skirting boards especially in bedroom dirty mould in kitchen, bathroom and behind toilet, poo on toilet brush cobwebs throughout the cottage vast amount of recycle rubbish outside the front door and on the front gardenVery unkept garden had trouble in locking and unlocking porch door, poor unwelcoming state of the porchVery poor internet and tv reception lovely cottage left to diterate."
    Chris ‐ 3 Jun 2019
"Superb location, pub/restaurant next door excellent for food and friendliness. Property was really nice although perhaps not great for tall people, also a little awkward not having a shower. Would definitely stay again."
    Steph ‐ 8 May 2019
"The cottage is easy to find from the directions given. We were pleased with the cleanliness of the cottage, but the pictures do make it look bigger than what it is. It is very small. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed. The pub next door is great, but does not allow dogs. You need to use your car to get any where. There are no walks close by you can go on that doesn’t involve walking along a main road which was dangerous. We were really disappointed about this. Better information in the cottage regarding local walks would have been useful and welcome. We made the best of our stay but wouldn’t go again."

"Lovely cottage in a peaceful location with access to Cumbria and lakes"
    Stephen ‐ 9 Mar 2019
"No logs provided as promised - had to dig around in shed for dirty old bits of scrap wood. Minimal kitchen equipment. Basic average no frills cottage, no shower unless sitting in pre filled bath with tepid water."
    Cath ‐ 28 Feb 2019
"Lovely cottage but problems with the heating meant it was cold despite the best efforts of the heating engineer. Promised Welcome Packs weren’t provided. Road works outside the door all week meant it was inconvenient re access and not the quiet break we had hoped for."
    Steph ‐ 20 Feb 2019
"We love grange over sands and we love lindale because it's so quiet. This cottage was so cosy, we love that it's all on one level, and it had everything we needed. The dogs especially loved that we didn't have to 'leave them downstairs' Like we usually have to!"
    Claire ‐ 5 Feb 2019
"Absolutely loved the cottage and we’ll be back very soon !"
    Lesley ‐ 15 Nov 2018
"Had a lovely relaxing stay in this quiet cottage"
    SM ‐ 6 Nov 2018
"Lovely location. Local shop only open 8:30 - 1:00, but a COOP & Tesco express in Grange - less than 2 miles away, plus petrol station/ shop at Newby Bridge around 4 miles. Cottage had all we needed. . Very comfortable, the wood burner will only take smaller sized logs , which we weren't aware of until we bought a bag from the garage. We visited local towns, and further afield towards Western lakes, yet close enough to beaches of Morecambe and Blackpool. Had difficulty with outer front door locking, but it was a hinderance, not a major problem. There was a list of walks and available amenities, including places to eat, recycle advice laid out in the folder at the cottage. The local pub was very handy, especially as they allowed us to park our car, with consideration of course."
    Penny ‐ 29 Oct 2018
"Unfortunately I had problems with the heating. Other than that it was all ok. Probably the first cottage I have stayed in that is looked after by a cleaning company so it lacked all the little personal touches. I just wouldn’t recommend the cottage as I wasn’t particularly enamoured by it"
