About this property

Cartmel 0.8 miles. This superb cottage is one of a row of cottages that back on to a delightful courtyard, just a short walk from the ancient priory village of Cartmel. Nestled in the pretty Cartmel Valley, close to the village race course, this Cartmel cottage offers excellent accommodation, with award-winning restaurants and specialist food shops within walking distance, and is the perfect retreat for couples or families looking for a quiet holiday whilst exploring this pretty corner of Cumbria and the South Lakes Peninsula. Originally the coach house for the adjacent manor house, this bright and elegant cottage is one of several cottages on this quiet and secluded site, and has pretty views across a duck pond and a stream which offers a good variety of wild birds. Many charming features have been retained from the days when horses were stabled here. Offering all ground floor accommodation, the cottage has an open plan living area with doors to the patio for summertime, and a woodburning stove to keep you toasty during chilly evenings, as well as comfy bedrooms and a superb family bathroom. Outside, the cottage offers a patio area where you can enjoy the views over the duck pond or simply take in the peaceful surroundings. Discover the superb walking available right from the door, heading through the pretty village with its impressive medieval priory and village square, or explore the beautiful Lake District, with Lake Windermere just 6 miles away. This marvellous Cartmel cottage makes a perfect base at any time of the year.

Renowned for being the prettiest village in the Lake District, the small town of Cartmel in South Lakeland is a wonderful, picturesque holiday destination. At the heart of this thriving community is the Priory Church, one of the finest ecclesiastical buildings in the north of England with its gatehouse still in use as the entrance to the settlement itself. Amidst cobbled streets and pretty streamside walks, are a range of quaint gift shops, antique shops, traditional pubs that serve real ale and the nationally renowned Michelin-starred restaurant L'Enclume. A well-loved destination for hill-walkers, the region is full of excellent trails through stunning, unspoilt countryside. In addition, there is the Campbell Legend Bluebird Exhibition, Lakeland Motor Museum and Hunt Racecourse all in the near vicinity. With Windermere and Grange-over-Sands only a few minutes away, there's plenty for everyone to do.
