The ground floor boasts an excellent kitchen and a bright and airy dining area with French doors leading out to a small patio area, a wonderful space to sit with a cup of coffee as you plan the day's activities. A short walk from this Ambleside cottage will take you to a beautiful park set in tranquil surroundings, with the River Rothay tumbling alongside. Walk along the river, cross the stepping stones and you will come to Rydal and Grasmere beyond. Ambleside is located at the top of Lake Windermere; steamboats depart here regularly to take you to Bowness and Lakeside. With the pretty Lakeland villages of Hawkshead and Elterwater within a half hour drive, this Ambleside cottage is the perfect base for your Lake District holiday at any time of the year.

Given its excellent position at the northern tip of Lake Windermere - England's largest lake - Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes. The town itself is famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th Century 'Bridge House' - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District.
