The centre of this historic old village is a short walk away, as is magnificent Lake Windermere, with its myriad of water sports and cruises. Close to spectacular scenery in the heart of the Lake District, this makes an ideal romantic retreat.
Situated at the northern tip of Lake Windermere - England's largest lake â the town of Ambleside offers a superb base for touring the central Lake District. The surrounding area offers plenty to do such as cruises, boat trips and water sports on Lake Windermere itself as well as numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in situated in Ableside. The lakeside at Waterhead provides access to a short stretch of beach, whilst a brief walk in the opposite direction - following Stock Ghyll through woodland - will lead to the enchanting waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. In addition to the Lake and the great walking and cycling on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th Century âBridge House' - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District.

Well planned out and everything you could need. Bonus was having a parking space outside off the road. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place that is good value for money.

We had a lovely week everything you needed was in the cottage location great and best of all was the booklet of walks that was kindly left for us and we didnt have to use the car once

All you need from a holiday cottage. Bed extremely comfortable. Kitchen facilities all there. Ambleside just a fantastic place to be. Restaurants are fab, walking excellent and no need to use a car all week.
