Patterdale is a small village nestled into the slopes at the southern tip of Lake Ullswater. The area is a haven for walkers, cyclists and those who enjoy water sports with the Ullswater sailing club close by where you can hire a boat or try out wind surfing. The village has a shop, post office and pub serving good local ale, scattered along the shore line of the lake are numerous villages to explore, all with their own character and usually an inn waiting with a welcome refreshment after a days exploring. Travel over the Kirkstone Pass into Ambleside or Windermere and the Lake District takes on a more ‘upbeat’ feel with these popular villages offering shopping, sightseeing, museums and much more. The market town of Penrith with cinema and swimming pool is less than half an hour away.
