    A traditional 18th-century Cumbrian cottage, retaining many original features with beautiful panoramic views.
    A traditional 18th-century Cumbrian cottage with beautiful panoramic views, located in the small picturesque village of Helton. A perfect place to get away from it all, with tranquil surroundings in this little known area of the Lake District. There are wonderful walks right from the cottage. Close by are Ullswater and Haweswater, and excellent high level walking. Other nearby attractions and activities include the Lowther Castle and Gardens, Askham Hall Gardens and café, Dalemain historic house, Lakeland Bird of Prey Centre, Ullswater steamers, Hallin Fell, Aira Force waterfall, horse riding, mountain biking, climbing, fishing, sailing, windsurfing and canoeing. There are two delightful pubs and a village shop, a mile away, in the neighbouring village of Askham. The attractive market town of Penrith is just 10 minutes drive away. Enjoy the views and watch out for the red squirrels!. Ground Floor:
    The cottage retains many original features. It is beautifully furnished and very well equipped, with oil fired central heating and comprises:
    Lounge: With log burning stove, Smart TV, DVD player and open views.
    Dining room: With beamed ceiling and open views.
    Kitchen: The kitchen has an electric cooker with a double oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and Bluetooth DAB radio.
    Utility/drying room: With washer/dryer and space for boots and coats.
    Cloakroom: with WC.
    First Floor:
    Bedroom 1: with king size bed and views.
    Bedroom 2: with twin beds and views. 
    Bedroom 3: with full size adult bunk beds.
    Bathroom: With bath, shower cubicle, WC and hand basin.
    Logs for the wood burning stove, oil and electricity are included. Bed linen and towels are provided. Wi-Fi. Cot and highchair available.
    To the front of the cottage there is an enclosed terraced garden with patio area, garden furntirue and a BBQ. Enjoy the views and watch out for the red squirrels and a vast variety of bird life which are attracted to the bird feeder. To the rear is an area to keep bikes - with a locking point. Private parking for two cars. Two well behaved pets welcome.

    "S85062 at Helton is by far the best cottage we have stayed in over recent years. Because of its elevated location the views across Helton are breathtaking, as are the walks that we thoroughly enjoyed with our two dogs. The cottage is excellently equipped - we couldn't have asked for anything more. The biggest downside is having to leave the cottage to come home again!"

    "Excellent property upgrades and extremely clean and comfortable as ever. BUT... A holiday is about arriving to a destination set up to give you a terrific experience for a short period of time. Whilst we brought the usual things we need, there was no milk, no coffee, not even a tea bag to make a cuppa when you arrive. You also need to remember to bring items like cooking oil and everything else as there are NO store cupboard items, and no hand soap to wash your hands in one of the toilets. It would also be nice to have a couple of bath sheets and / or bath robes as all that is provided is a regular shower towel per person that does not even hold around your waist (and I'm only regular in build..). Otherwise a wonderful stay!"

    "The cottage is in a beautiful location and a good place for walks etc. Th parking was difficult, as was gaining entry to the house via steps. A bit of a problem when you have bad knees. Generally things were very good with a few small problems such as key safe at back door not working, but overall a lovely holiday. Only reason for saying we would not go back again is because we tend to go to new areas, not going back where we have been."

    "We had a wonderful stay at S85062. It was ideal for our family of three teenage children and our dog. The cottage was very well equipped with everything you could need. It was very welcoming and very clean and comfortable. The views from the cottage are stunning. There are lovely walks straight from the door and plenty of things to do further afield."

    "Very lovely cottage, beautifull location and stunning view out of the house. There is no downsite, maybe only the washingmachine (very old and bit unhandy..). But that's really a detail in comparison to all the positives of this accomodation!!"

    "We loved S85062 and would highly recommend it to others. On a couple of occasions we had a scare when the front door banged shut; a solution to this would be to replace the yale with a dead lock type so that you have to physically turn the key to lock it when you leave. The steep gravelly drive is a bit tricky unless you are confident with reversing! All in all a fabulous place though"

    "For the second time we had a fabulous week at S85062. The surroudings are ideal and the equipment of de cottage is very good. We had some sturdy walks though te weather was very hot (for England). We hope to return soon."

    "We had a fab stay at this cottage and when it says pet friendly it is no rules for dogs (this is the only one we have ever stayed at that does not have any rules and we have stayed at many) the views are stunning and walks amazing, the fells are just a short walk up the road, spent many hours walking our two dogs who loved it. They had to stay on lead as lots of sheep there. Also a short walk along the road and across a field is the next village Askham two fab pubs which serve food and a shop which has great pasties. We will defo be going back again. The cottage is comfortable and very well equipped it was also spotless, very clean. We also found everyone very friendly"

    "This a fantastic home if you want peace and quiet in a fabulous location. Everything that we needed was provided to a first class standard including more than enough logs for the wood burner. As dog owners we can confirm that the garden is safe and secure for dogs as small as mini Yorkshire terriers. My only negative would be the quality and comfort of the seating in the lounge. We would definitely return for another stay."

    "The cottage was ideal for our family - 2 adults, 3 children - age range 6 to 13 and our dog.It was well equipped and the rooms were of a fairly good size. The master bed room and the double room were particularly good in terms of size.The furniture and decor were tasteful but not fussy so we felt at home there and did not feel worried about children or dog being around expensive ornaments etc - i.e. it has a lovely lived in feel.The separate lounge and dinning room allow for flexible living. The utility room was a good size and particularly useful in terms of boot and coat storage. It was also an ideal place to dry off a dog.The woodburing stove was a treat and kept the downstairs very warm when lit.The village is quiet and lovely. I was very relaxing to work from the cottage to different parts of the village.There is a good shop and lovely places to eat in nearby Askham. Penrith is also within easy reach.This was a corner of the Lake District that we have not explored before and we enjoyed it as a less busy place compared to the central lakes."
