About this property

This 5* luxury farmhouse is the perfect base for families to enjoy a relaxed holiday at any time of year. Dating back 500 years the farmhouse has retained many original features including a feature Court cupboard, beams and original flagstone floors.

Surrounded by the Cumbrian mountains, the highest peaks in England and in the heart of the Lake District National Park the Eskdale Valley has stunning scenery in a most peaceful, almost hidden part of the Lakes. Eskdale was described by Sir Alfred Wainwright as ‘the loveliest of all Lakeland valleys’. The valley offers many attractions for visitors with the sandy beaches to the west and Langdale and Grasmere are easily reached with a trip over Wrynose and Hard Knott Pass to the east. Taking a journey on the famous Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway is a must, chugging through spectacular vistas where you can stop off at various stations before reaching the sea where the River Esk finishes its journey in the fishing village of Ravenglass. For those who enjoy a round of golf, Eskdale Golf Course has some of the most challenging holes against a most stunning backdrop. Muncaster Castle and Gardens with their huge collection of rhododendrons and azaleas, is a pleasurable visit with plenty for all to enjoy at any time of year.

Eskdale Cottages consist of 7 traditional, 500 year old, Grade II listed cottages sleeping from 2 to 10 people in a hidden gem of the quieter Western Lakes, tucked beside the historic 17th Century Packhorse bridge in the village of Boot which has 2 friendly village pubs serving mouth watering locally sourced food and local ales and a small village shop open during the summer months only, all within 150 yards. The cottages are furnished and equipped to a high standard which effortlessly combine traditional features including beams and exposed stone walls with contemporary furnishings to provide a base for couples to enjoy a romantic getaway or for families or a group looking for something that little bit special or to celebrate in style. At the end of the lane is England’s oldest working mill, Boot Mill, which is now a museum, England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike, is within walking distance as are a number of river, woodland and meadow walks. Wastwater voted Britain’s Best View and the sandy beaches of the Solway coast are within a short drive.
