About this property

The delightful, light and airy cottage offers stunning views from the front of the property and is ideal for a get together with family and friends in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The quality of the cottage is evident as you enter with sumptuous seating in the sitting room and a coal-effect electric fire, which leads through to a well-equipped kitchen with dining area, ideal for relaxing over a coffee and planning the day’s activities. Upstairs there are two comfortable bedrooms and a family bathroom. Doors from the kitchen lead to the rear private courtyard garden which comes complete with furniture and BBQ, perfect for enjoying the delights of alfresco dining on a summer's evening. The shared, landscaped gardens offer different seating areas which are ideal for enjoying the quiet tranquillity of the area with a book or a picnic. Why not take a stroll to the river ferry, cross the River Wye and enjoy a refreshing drink in the pub on the opposite bank? Many fabulous walks and cycle trails can be enjoyed from the doorstep of the cottage, or try your hand at one of the many outdoor activities on offer in the Forest of Dean and on the River Wye. Visit the riverside towns of Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth, both offering unique shops, tea rooms and traditional pubs in idyllic settings. A wonderful holiday cottage to be enjoyed at any time of year.

The pretty village of Symonds Yat straddles the beautiful River Wye with its natural scenery and magnificent limestone 'rock', popular with climbers and is internationally renowned for its viewpoint. Symonds Yat West is situated overlooking the beautiful Wye Valley, and is close to the magnificent Royal Forest of Dean, England's largest oak forest. This is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offering numerous trails that can be explored on foot, bicycle or horseback. Beautifully decorated, very comfortable and warm. Immaculately clean and so well equipped. Fabulous location. Only one very minor issue, shower was great but water pressure not very good in washbasin in bathroom but that's a very minor issue.. All in all had a relaxing few days and going to book again next year. Thoroughly recommend. Scenery wonderful. Fabulous autumn colours.

The facilities are adequate, though the lack of some kitchen equipment is a frustration. The fact that one must step straight in from the outside onto the sitting room carpet is a worry with a wet dog! This meant cleaning had to take place outside the front door, in the rain, which is not great. Nevertheless, we had a good time exploring the area, despite less than friendly weather conditions. We would stay again, with some reservations .

There are lots of things to do and see with lovely walks out from the cottage, it is great to be able to do things without having to get in a car and drive. The hand ferry was a great experience over to the Saracens Head with good food available there and also at Ye Old Ferrie Inn a ten minute walk away. The cottage was really clean and well organised with great local amenities available. I would really recommend staying here and definitely would go back!
