About this property

Shobdon 1 mile. A charming Black and White Elizabethan detached cottage located just one mile from the ancient village of Shobdon, close to the border with Wales. Very comfortably furnished throughout, the cottage boasts many original wall and ceiling beams, an ideal base for a small family holiday or weekend getaway with friends who wish to explore this beautiful part of the country. The spacious accommodation provides a pleasant sitting room, ideal for relaxing in front of the TV, a traditional dining room with warming woodburning stove and a very well-equipped kitchen with utility room providing hanging space for walking gear and storing muddy wellies. Guests can sit in the conservatory and watch the diverse range of birdlife in the garden or relax with a good book. Make your way up the stairs to the three lovely bedrooms and a bright and cheery bathroom, all of which have views across open countryside and original beams. Outside, guests have ample space to enjoy family games, dine alfresco or enjoy a barbecue at your chosen spot in the garden. Take a stroll into the village which has a pub, shop and a Post Office, a renowned church of particular architectural interest and also its own private airfield, so you can sometimes see and hear planes flying overhead. The area offers many scenic walks including Offa's Dyke Path and the Herefordshire and Mortimer Trail. Visit the pretty, unspoilt villages along the Black and White Trail and the unique towns of Hereford, Leominster, Ludlow and Hay-on-Wye. The Black Mountains and Brecon Beacon National Park are also close by. A wonderful cottage for a memorable holiday at any time of year.

The pleasant village of Shobdon lies between the historic market towns of Leominster and Presteigne, surrounded by beautiful Herefordshire countryside and close to the Welsh borderlands. Mentioned in the Domesday Book, Shobdon has a village shop, an excellent pub/restaurant and even a private airfield, providing a rare opportunity to learn how to fly helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. A great base for a holiday exploring Herefordshire!
