About this property

This a proper Cotswolds gem! Hazel Manor Wing, as the name suggests, is the detached and private wing of a rather grand Cotswolds manor home. As you drive down a sweeping treelined drive, you arrive and immediately feel 'this is the life'... From the outside this old building is the classic listed Cotswolds house complete with rambling roses and a typical stone structure. Step inside and a very warm and bright home greets you. The large, vaulted living area is impressive, with a large open fire surrounded by similarly large sofas and coffee table - the perfect space to relax. The sparkling kitchen is ultra modern and fully equipped and the huge dining table is a perfect for a feast as it is to spread the newspaper out! There are two bedrooms each with a stunning bathroom ideal for privacy and two couples. Outside there is an enclosed garden area, ideal for your pooch and beyond are some incredible walks into 'proper' Cotswolds countryside. Take a walk along the lane to the nearest pub about a mile away, or jump in the car to Roman Cirencester, Tetbury or the spa town of Cheltenham all of which are about 20 mins drive away. As a family, as a couple or as a pair of couples this is a great place to explore (and relax) the Cotswolds.

Painswick is a town and civil parish in Gloucestershire. The town originated from the wool trade, but is now best known for its parish church’s yew trees and the local Rococo Garden. The village is mainly constructed of locally quarried Cotswold Stone. It stands on a hill in the Stroud district which overlooks one of the Five Valleys. It is home to a cricket and rugby team and has a popular golf course on the outskirts of the town. There is a local pubs such as The Oak and the Falcon Inn which offer real ales, real fires and a courtyard.

The open fire was a lovely feature during a January stay. The kitchen was amazing, providing everything you might need and more. The grounds were perfect to walk our 3 dogs who enjoyed their stay as much as we did! We enjoyed days out in Cheltenham which proved to be very dog friendly aswell as eating out at dome more local pubs. We would definitely recommend this property and hope to return in the future.

The property is well equipped and the only note there was no shower mats for either the shower or bath which my elderly mother found the shower very slippery but we improvised with a towel. The views were outstanding and with the beautiful autumnal sun shining in made our stay even better. After a bad experience at The Royal George pub that claims to be dog friendly but doesn’t clarify on their website only in their bar and after being spoken to awfully by a couple of their staff we found a charming and very friendly complete dog friendly pub near by called The Golden Heart Inn brilliant food and lovely atmosphere. We also found walks near by at Selsley Common and Crickley Hill to be wonderful and views outstanding well worth a visit.

We walked in through the door of Hazel Manor Wing and immediately felt at home. The lamp was on in the open plan area and they’d even laid the table for our evening meal. The beautiful bedrooms with underfloor heating, soft fluffy quilts and pillows and lovely soaps etc were a real bonus. A fully equipped kitchen with everything one could wish for. Another bonus was having Sky TV and the wonderful open fire with logs and firelighters to hand. Being able to walk the dog in the grounds of the estate was brilliant, and the wonderful Cotswold towns and villages makes this an ideal location. We’ve stayed in excess of 10 properties with Sykes Cottages and this is by far the best we’ve ever stayed in - we will definitely be back.
