About this property

Located on the Lydney Road leading towards the pretty village of Bream, is this splendid detached cottage in the wonderful county of Gloucestershire. With picturesque views from the village of the Royal Forest of Dean and the Cotswold Hills beyond, this superb retreat is in the ideal situation for touring an area of awe and wonder. The front porch opens up into a rather cosy sitting room, complete with beautiful patterned floors offering underfloor heating and a woodburning stove. A lovely dining area rests adjacent to this, following through to the pristine kitchen. This modern space boasts contemporary colour schemes and useful fixtures guiding you through a comfortable stay; sit at the breakfast bar and enjoy your morning coffee, or simply take pleasure in preparing the family meals in the bright and sleek surroundings. The washing machine is housed in the utility room for your convenience, while the conservatory harmonises with the outdoor space, drawing natural light into a cosy, delightfully furnished set-up. Take the open tread staircase up to the bedrooms; there is a family room with a single and adjoining double for those travelling with children, along with another single room, all decorated with neutral overtones. The ground floor shower room serves the bedrooms in a stylish manner, with a modern black and white theme. Step outside and enjoy the rural fresh air from the private patio or on the lawn, a ten-minute walk will bring you to the nearest shop and pub, whilst the Forest of Dean, offering a host of exciting activities for adventure-seekers, is within driving distance. In the picturesque market town of Ross-on-Wye you can take a stroll along part of the Wye Valley Walk and behold breath-taking vistas, or stop off at The Prospect viewpoint in St Mary’s Churchyard and similarly enjoy the natural scenes of Herefordshire. Symonds Yat is also easily accessed along the beautiful River Wye with its magnificent limestone, popular amongst climbers. This is a lovely base in which to unwind with the family, in a charming area of England. There is a family business next door which is completely separate.

The pretty village of Bream offers magnificent views of the Royal Forest of Dean to the Cotswold Hills beyond. Clearwell with its ancient caves and eerie caverns and the village of St Briavels with its castle are also close by. The magnificent Royal Forest of Dean, England's largest oak forest, offers numerous trails that can be explored on foot, cycle or horseback. Caving, abseiling and a high wire rope course are for the more adventurous, whilst fishing, golf, kayaking and canoeing are other popular activities in this unspoilt area. Just a short drive away is the historic market town of Ross-on-Wye, with timbered Tudor houses, excellent shops, pubs and restaurants all in the heart of rural Herefordshire. This unspoilt area has something to offer all tastes at any time of the year.

The accommodation was clean and the kitchen well equipped for self catering. Good value for money

Lovely and clean, everything you could need in the well equipped kitchen. Was also great that we could do our washing and try on the clothes airer that was provided. The only thing that was a little tricky was parking the car as I sometimes had to block the road to reverse in, however this very minor niggle would not stop me from 100% recommending Rose Cottage. I would definitely use again if we were visiting the area again. Many thanks
