Hadrian’s Wall is approximately 18 miles away, Beamish ‘The Living Museum of the North’ is just 10 miles, the cosmopolitan city of Newcastle is 13 miles and Durham city is just 18 miles. Almost on the doorstep is Chopwell Woods, providing a fantastic day out for all the family, this 360-hectare mixed woodland is full of walks and cycle routes, set right on the fringe of Gateshead. Not far from Chopwell is the Tanfield Railway, which is the north east’s biggest and most popular steam railway dating back to 1725. There are great transport links close by including the A1, which is also home to a major local landmark; ‘The Angel of the North’, love it or hate it, it is impossible to miss.

The cottage enjoys peaceful unspoilt views down onto Derwent Valley. It is a perfect location for those wanting to escape busy day to day life. Recently lovingly renovated and refurbished by the owners the accommodation provides a comfortable, modern yet traditional retreat for all the family.
