Outside your cottage, is a gravelled patio area which is a little sun trap, perfect for getting some fresh air and planning your day's adventures. There is a secure shed ideal for holding muddy boots and bikes to be stored. A short walk from your cottage takes you to the town centre, with many charming pubs, tea rooms and restaurants. The surrounding area is perfect for walking and cycling with many routes providing the chance to enjoy much of the local countryside. For those who prefer to drive, the Northern Dales are waiting to be discovered and visits to medieval Raby Castle with its deer park, Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle, High Force Waterfall and Egglestone Hall and Gardens are not to be missed. A superb base for discovering the delights of this fabulous area, at any time of the year.

The pretty Pennine town of Middleton-In-Teesdale lies in the heart of Teesdale, perched on the riverbank in the beautiful Tees Valley. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this is a well-served little settlement and offers a good range of shops, pubs and places to eat. For more specialist amenities, the market town of Barnard Castle is within easy driving distance and provides everything a visitor could possibly need. The surrounding countryside is full of excellent walking opportunities through high, open moorland and pretty wooded valleys. Nearby are the waterfalls of High Force and Cauldron Snout, which are often considered to be amongst the most spectacular sights in the district.
