The nearby market town of Barnard Castle, with its cobbled streets and quaint lanes, attracts visitors all year round, while the Northern Dales are waiting to be discovered slightly further afield. Visit medieval Raby Castle with its deer park, The Bowes Museum, High Force Waterfall and Eggleston Hall. A perfect cottage at any time of the year.
The pretty Pennine village of Middleton-In-Teesdale lies in the heart of Teesdale, perched on the riverbank in the beautiful Tees Valley. The surrounding countryside is full of excellent walking opportunities through high, open moorland and pretty wooded valleys. Nearby are the waterfalls of High Force and Cauldron Snout, which are often considered to be amongst the most spectacular sights in the district.
