Outside there is a lawned area and a small patio, ideal to enjoy a morning coffee. The village has two pubs within walking distance and the town at Middleton-in-Teesdale, two miles away, offers a good selection of shops. The village itself is located at the joining of the River Lune as its leaves Lunesdale and it is close to Mickle Fell, Stainmore Forest and several reservoirs including Selset and Grassholme which all afford glorious walking, vistas and opportunities for birdwatching. Also just behind Mickleton on the Lunedale Hills looms the Bronze Age burial site of Kirkcarrion. This attractive area is also steeped in history with several historic properties to visit including Barnard Castle, medieval Raby Castle, where the northern uprising for Queen Mary of Scotland was plotted, and Aukland Castle. The fascinating and important Bowes Museum said to be one of the most important outside of London, was purpose built in the 19th century with a French style for ordinary people to enjoy extraordinary art and craft is well worth a vist. This museum houses some valuable European well-known artists work, as well as having textiles and art exhibitions and a delicious café. This delightful cottage is situated in an interesting and attractive area with much to discover locally. Further afield there is easy access to the Western Lakes and Yorkshire Dales. A cosy welcoming cottage in an ideal location for exploring and enjoying your holiday at any time of the year.

The small hamlet of Mickleton is situated in the heart of beautiful Teesdale, close to the villages of Romaldkirk and Middleton in Teesdale and within driving distance of the market town of Barnard Castle. Mickleton offers two pubs, including one serving food, and there's wonderful walking all around.
