This detached property lends itself to couples who’re looking for a romantic break – Lanchester features a superb selection of places to eat including three local pubs, an Italian restaurant and a traditional fish and chip shop. It is also ideal for guests who enjoy walking and cycling, as there are numerous established public footpaths, walks and cycle paths that lead from the cottage and out into the beautiful countryside of County Durham. One of these walks takes you alongside the River Browney and down towards the village, a most scenic walk that’s not to be missed! The beautiful hills and valleys of Teesdale and Weardale are both under a 30-minute drive, and walkers will find themselves surrounded by some of the most evocative landscapes the UK has to offer. Hadrian’s Wall can be reached within an hour’s drive, and the Derwent Valley Railway Path leads east towards the outskirts of Durham, a very popular trail with cyclists, whilst the Waskerley Way leads westward into the vast open spaces of Weardale.
Sycamore Cottage caters for all manner of holidaymakers. Just 10 miles away, guests can explore the heritage of the cathedral city of Durham, which offers a broad range of attractions throughout the year. "Lovely cosy cottage tucked away on its own. Very quiet and perfect for a couple with a baby. Easy access to Durham and Consett down the road has all amenities you would need. Well equipped kitchen and modern bathroom."
"Tiny but perfectly formed.Disappointed that there was no fuel for the woodburner.Needs a vacuum cleaner or carpet sweeper. Rug in lounge area was covered in white pet hairs and only means of cleaning was a dustpan and brush.Towels were damp when we arrived so had to use our own until they dried. It is hard to find.Directions should state its first right turn after junction to Delves Lane/ Hurbuck Cottages on left.I had to give the shower unit a good clean as it was dirty. All in all its a quirky cottage and we enjoyed our stay.Ideal for couples wanting a quiet romantic getaway."
"Enjoyed this cottage for a second time very comfortable beds cosy inside everything on hand ,peaceful and relaxing break ."
"Sycamore cottage is not to everyone's taste. It is ideal if you are looking for a place where you can get away from it all as it is very private and detached which is what I wanted. I went with my husband for three days and we intended not to stray too far. As it happened the weather was atrocious. It rained heavily every day. It is clean comfortable but small and does lack some home comforts. There was a welcome pack which was lovely. I am intending to go back in July as I found the cottage uplifting and comfortable. There is something about it that makes one think about things. Possibly the quiet location."
"Really enjoyed 4 days in this cottage, highly recommended ?"
