About this property

Perched in the popular resort town of Weymouth in Dorset, is this contemporary, three-storey terraced house, Sea King House. Boasting a prime location along the coast with stunning views looking out towards Weymouth Bay and Portland harbour, Sea King House is a fantastic dog-friendly dwelling for couples or a family of five, plus two canine companions, seeking their next coastal adventure. Step into the property, where you will find a cloakroom, and a convenient utility room housing a washing machine, ideal for keeping your holiday wardrobe fresh! Climb the stairs up to the first floor, where you can look forward to rustling up tasty home-cooked meals in the well-equipped kitchen, featuring a handy dishwasher, ready to savour at the dining table for five or al-fresco out on the rear patio. After dinner, why not make the most of the warmer weather with your favourite tipple out on the balcony as you soak up the views of Sandsfoot Gardens and the fascinating castle ruins. As the evening cools, curl up on the plush seating and select a family favourite from the TV with DVD player. Make your way up to the second floor where you can indulge in a soothing soak in the bath or refreshing shower, before choosing from three well-appointed bedrooms, a double, a twin and a single. Explore your local surroundings, where you can get up close to Sandsfoot Castle and Gardens and take in the exceptional sweeping bay views, or pack-up your swimsuits and towels and head straight for the glorious sands of Castle Cove Beach. If you fancy a stroll into the town centre, take the scenic Rodwell Trail which follows a disused railway line. Once you have reached the bustling town, choose from a wide variety of welcoming pubs, restaurants and cafes to suit any taste and budget, test out your swing at the excellent Weymouth Golf Club, watch the world go by at the harbour or visit the remarkable Victorian Nothe Fort and gardens. Other attractions in the town include the thriving promenade, which is peppered with amusements, the wildlife rich RSPB Radipole Lake, Sea Life Centre and the beautiful Weymouth Beach where you can bathe or take to the waters on kayak, canoe or surfboard. Next stop is Dorchester, home to the National Trust site of Max Gate, former home of the great literary, Thomas Hardy, here you can also visit the historic sites of the Shire Hall Historic Courthouse Museum, the Dorset Museum and the Roman Townhouse, or if that isn’t your thing, why not follow the Thomas Hardy Trail or visit the nearby Kingston Maurward Animal Park and Gardens. Treat the ones who mean most to a memorable stay at Sea King House.

Cove Castle is the locals favourite beach area, sitting along side the Rodwell trail area, Cove Castle Beach is usually uncrowded, and offers safe bathing from it’s gently sloping shoreline. CoveCastle and Sandsfoot beach sit side by side, both with soft golden sand and the vibe of the best kept secret. Sandsfoot castle is just two minutes’ walk from the beach where you will find castle ruins, pretty award-winning gardens and a small café, offering snacks, drinks and ice-creams. Accessed off Old Castle Road in Weymouth, this area is a real treat for those who want to be away from the buzz and bright lights of the traditional Weymouth Seafront, and yet close enough to venture there when they choose. When you are on the beach you could be forgiven for thinking you are miles from town, and yet you are only a 15-20 minute walk from the old Harbour and access to Weymouth town centre. If you want to know where the locals would recommend you spend your beach days, then Cove Castle and Sandsfoot beaches are it.

Looking out the windows it has a wonderful wow factor. Everything we needed was there: kitchen utensils etc. fridge and freezer a good size. Utility room and washer/dryer amazing. The cafe opposite was open everyday so we had lots of fresh coffee. . Cleaning could have been a little better. Only thing that would really improve would be a grab handle as you get out the bath/shower as it’s a very high sided bath and there’s nothing to steady yourself when you get out and there is limited space, and a shower door that can be pushed back against the wall so you don’t have to climb in the bath to push the plug in.

After numerous calls to Sykes cottages requesting to change our deposit over to another property, because we read more recent reviews about how difficult it was to get in & out of the shower in the bath. Firstly, customer services denied any such reviews, but after talking to another person, the reviews were noted!!! As my husband is 83 & myself 79 (with arthritis I did foresee problems, which there duly was! After 2 days we couldn’t go any longer not having a shower!. The week was a celebration of 60 yrs of marriage, so thought it VERY unkind of Sykes Cottages not to allow us to change over our deposit over to another property of yours. I had given plenty of time before we were due to arrive. Soooo disappointed, although we did find another ‘very nice’ property to stay at BUT it has cost us a lot of money & being pensioners you can imagine how difficult that is! If it hadn’t been our special anniversary we would have come home. As you can understand we won’t be using Sykes Cottages again & will put a review on TrustPilot when I have time. Mrs Linda Dunn
