Lavender Cottage is set in a peaceful location in the picturesque village of Sutton Poyntz, close to Overcombe Beach and only a short drive into Weymouth.
Internally, this period property is furnished to a high standard throughout including Egyptian cotton sheets in all bedrooms, luxury towels, Farrow and Ball paint and William Morris wallpaper. Also in keeping with the era the property has many character features including, two open fireplaces, wood burner, ornate coving, oak floor and stone floor as well as gas central heating throughout. Externally, there is a pretty enclosed courtyard garden complete with furniture and barbeque, ideal for al fresco dining.
Sutton Poyntz is a traditional Dorset village complete with thriving local Inn and duck pond. There are two other local pubs, shops, an Italian restaurant and Overcombe Beach, all only a short walk away. A regular bus service runs into Weymouth and stunning coastal and country walks are minutes away. All this makes Lavender Houses the ideal base for a relaxing holiday.
Weymouth is only a short drive away and has lots to offer, from family fun to sophisticated evenings out. The town centre has plenty of well-known high street shops, a cinema and an abundance of cafes, restaurants and bars. The level seafront stretches for three miles, taking in the town centre and along to the vibrant harbour. An area near the harbour called Brewers Quay is great for people watching and stepping back in time to the 14th century in the Timewalk Museum.
This property especially welcomes children. There is a cot, highchair and steriliser available. For older children there is a separate lounge area with a Wii games console and an enclosed garden. Buckets, spades, fishing nets, cool box and picnic rugs are also provided for family days out.

Some holiday cottages and apartments feel a little clinical and bare but not Lavender Cottage. The owners have put so much love into this house and it shows. It is beautifully decorated and furnished in keeping with the age of the property. But it's the small touches that make this place truly special. Beautiful artwork and old photographs and lovely coal buckets and companion sets by the fire. The house was completely spotless with lovely crisp white sheets and some of the biggest, softest towels I've ever seen. There was a lovely little welcome basket waiting for us containing some lovely goodies, which we promptly his from the children so we could enjoy them later!There were plenty of buckets, spades and fishing nets for the kids and the enclosed garden was great and we felt happy letting our toddler play out there on her own as it was so secure. The location is great. You feel like you're bang in the middle of the English countryside and a walk down to the village pub is highly recommended. Make sure you take some bread for the ducks on the way though. The only giveaway that you are so close to the coast is the sound of the seagulls in the morning. It's then only a three minute drive to the nearest beach and about 10 minutes into Weymouth which is a perfect beach for young kids with donkey rides and the best sand in England to build the perfect sandcastle. We were very sad to leave!
