Sited in the picturesque Dorset village of Upwey, a favourite spot for the writer Thomas Hardy, Old Forge offers a cosy retreat with quiet walks from various bridleways into stunning Dorset scenery. The property is a converted forge and the unusual layout affords wonderful countryside views from the upstairs lounge and kitchen/diner, with the beamed ceilings giving a traditional country cottage feel. The three comfortable bedrooms, one with en suite, and bathroom are located on the ground floor of the property. The pretty, enclosed garden is ideal for dining alfresco, or soaking up some sun during the summer months. Whilst staying in Upwey, do visit The Upwey Wishing Well tea rooms, which offers homemade cakes and Dorset Cream Teas and is an easy stroll from Old Forge. A short walk down the road is The Royal Standard, a lovely local pub which also serves food. A short journey across the rolling hills of Dorset will take you to the famous Chesil coastline in the West or the Purbeck coastline in the East. The county town of Dorchester is less than five miles away and here you will find a good variety of shops, museums, restaurants and a weekly market. Weymouth's golden sandy beach, shopping centre, gourmet restaurants and colourful harbour are a mere ten minute car or bus ride away (with the bus stop 2 minutes walk away).
Accommodation: Ground floor: Bedroom 1, Super kingsize zip and link double bed or twin single beds (please note your preference when booking) with en suite shower, hand basin and toilet. Bedroom 2, Kingsize double bed. Bedroom 3, 4ft sized single bed. Bathroom, bath and shower over, hand basin and toilet. Stairs to first floor. Kitchen / Diner, door with raised viewing deck and steps down to the garden. Lounge with step down to lower level of the lounge. Cloakroom with toilet and hand basin.

The Old Forge was an absolute gem of a cottage. Every home comfort was there, immaculately maintained & spotlessly clean. The upsidedown living arrangements really suit the cottage. Very friendly part of the world, food and hospitality in The Old Ship inn made us feel like locals. Will undoubtedly re-book. Service from Dream Cottages was equally superb, a minor hiccup with the TV was fixed in 2 hours. Our thanks to the Owners & Dream Cottages. Stayed November 2017.

We have had a lovely week here, made lots of great memories. Windsurfed nearly every day, even in 40mph winds. Loads of great views including Portland Bill, Durdle Door and Chesil Bank. Would love to stay again. Stayed September 2017.
