There is a generous garden area which guests can use and is accessed via a gravelled pathway or the car parking area.

Follis Cottage has wheel chair access via an available ramp. Inside there is step free, level access. The separate laundry room is accessed via the rear of the cottage.

Many of the attractive stone and granite cottages are fronted by a cascading mill stream which are part of the charm of the village. Folklore relates to the tale of when the local inhabitants of Nottington were asked many moons ago if they would allow a village pub to be built - it was flatly refused.

A petrol station within walking distance provides the morning papers and for your essential shopping needs two handy supermarkets are only a five-minute car journey away. The historic county town of Dorchester is only five miles away and the award-winning blue flag beach at Weymouth with its golden sands and shallow water is only two miles from the property. The owners live within the grounds and will respect your privacy, they are more than happy to offer advice and local knowledge when asked.

Follis Cottage offers an excellent location to discover the beautiful Dorset countryside and the famous Jurassic Coast World Heritage site for family or couples.

Nottington is a village sits just outside Weymouth and historically used to possess a Spa and was therefore popular with the aristocracy, who flocked there to drink the water, claimed to be of benefit for eruptive complaints and loss of appetite. What remains of this time today is the pump room which is known as the Spa house. Just 3 miles from the Georgian seaside town of Weymouth, this village is perfect for those wanting to explore South Dorset. Weymouth boasts an award winning beach, with golden sands and shallow waters, coupled with a Georgian seafront steeped in history. However the outside of the property needed a good tidy up also more typed instructions needed for gadgets and equipment. We were surprised the hosts lived so close to the holiday home.

Owners were welcoming but did not intrude. Just a couple of points which might help other guests: Whilst there was basically everything necessary provided, we were rather surprised to find that only one, rather thin, toilet roll was provided for a week’s stay, and there was no kitchen roll and barely an inch of washing up liquid provided. We had to go out and buy these on our first day. (most rental properties these days do provide these basics, and generally offer a small welcome pack of at least one or two tea bags etc. for a first cuppa after a long journey - fortunately we had taken plenty of supplies). Whilst there were the usual local brochures of nearby places, it would have been helpful to have a note of things like recommended places to eat and drink, and phone numbers for local doctors etc. A note also for future renters - if you need good, reliable Wi-Fi, perhaps for business etc.,the Wi-Fi is very unreliable and sometimes took half an hour or more to come through. There are boosters in the bungalow but they aren’t very effective due to the bungalow’s position surrounded by lots of trees.
