Way's Forge was a working forge run by five generations of the Way family dating back to the 1830's. The property has now been sympathetically renovated into a comfortable home, whilst still keeping its original character and charm. As with many traditional village smithys Way's Forge is conveniently located on the village high street and is only yards from the excellent Thimble Inn with its lovely streamside garden and delicious food. Situated in the picturesque village of Piddlehinton within the admired Piddle Valley, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. The village includes a pretty church and the Millennium Green with children's play area and picnic tables. You can enjoy delightful walks using the wealth of footpaths and bridleways nearby. Cerne Abbas, overseen by the legendary Cerne Giant is a short drive away and the county town of Dorchester is around 5 miles away and has a great combination of shopping, Restaurants, Cinema, historical and visitor attractions. A joining Dorchester is the new and innovative Poundbury, with it's boutique shops and delicious foodie scene. Take your pick from the beautiful nearby beaches, the long sandy beach, traditional Punch and Judy shows and donkey rides of Weymouth, or the more secluded Ringstead Bay are both around a 20-25 minute drive from Way's Forge. Pretty Lulworth Cove and the geological wonder, Durdle Door, are both under 20 miles from the property, pack a picnic and spend the day exploring these stunning spots on the Jurassic Coast.
Accommodation: Open plan kitchen, lounge dining area. Cloakroom with hand basin and toilet. Open tread stairs with a turn to first floor. Bedroom 1, kingsize double bed with flat screen TV with DVD. Bedroom 2, single bed. Bathroom, bath with shower over, hand basin and toilet.

Our 2 weeks at Way's Forge has been utterly delightful. It has proven to be the perfect bolthole; charmingly rustic, cosy and comfortable. The surrounding countryside is idyllic and perfect for walking our 2 dogs. The “welcome basket” was a lovely touch and much appreciated. We are now more in love with this county that ever. Thanks to Jane and Richard for making this the ideal place for which to explore Dorset – stayed September 2018

Thank you for your welcome gifts. A beautifully restored cottage, lovingly decorated with healthy dollops of quirkiness. Enjoyed a meal out at The Thimble, good food and friendly service. Days out exploring Dorchester, Lyme Regis, Weymouth and scaling Portland Bill Lighthouse – plus a visit to Max House. Lovely to see horses clip clopping, outside our window. All in all a very comfortable and relaxing stay in a beautiful cottage – stayed July 2018
