About this property

Liz and Ian would be delighted to welcome you to The Dairy at Whetley Farm near Beaminster. The Dairy and the Granary share the secure, sunny and enclosed stable courtyard of Whetley Farm, a classic 17th century Dorset listed stone farmhouse set in a beautiful garden. To ensure safe distancing and separation of Guests, a temporary fence has been erected across the courtyard so each cottage has its own safe and secure garden along with a private patio.

The recently renovated cottages offer peace and quiet and easy access to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and the many attractions of West Dorset, East Devon and South Somerset.

Each cottage has its own secluded, private patio, with patio chairs, table and parasol where guests can sit and enjoy the peace and fresh air whilst young children and dogs can play safely.

Being all on one level, the properties are particularly suitable for the less able.

A particular favourite with all our guests and their dogs is our two-acre woodland and wildflower meadow where you are free to wander at any time. It is enclosed by deer fencing so your dogs can be let off the lead and explore whilst you wander the mown paths or sit on one of the seats and watch the butterflies and birds.

Whetley Farm is just three quarters of a mile from Mosterton with its very well stocked village shop with in store bakery and its popular village pub which serves great selection of good food and local beers.

The historic market town of Beaminster is only two and a half miles south of Whetley Farm, with excellent independent shops, cafes and pubs, museum and an annual festival.

From wonderful walking, excellent pubs, fossil hunting and fishing, historic houses, gardens, shops, galleries and museums, stately homes and places such as Bridport, Dorchester and Sherborne all in easy reach you will be spoilt for choice of places to explore and things to do. Whetley Farm is set in an Area of Outstanding Local Beauty, with views of Lewesdon Hill, the highest point in Dorset, and is surrounded by renowned walking areas such as Beaminster Downs, Marshwood Vale, Lewesdon Hill, Pilsden Pen, Powerstock Forest, and Eggardon Hill.

For seaside visits the choice is yours, Fossil laden Charmouth, beautiful Lyme Regis, lively West Bay, (Broadchurch) golden sands at Weymouth, wonderful food at Hive Beach, fishing and boat rides, the South Coast path to follow and Golden Cap to climb.

Ian and Liz place great emphasis on ensuring you will be very well looked after during your stay.

If you need help deciding where to go, what to do or where to walk Liz and Ian would be happy to advise and can lend you walking maps.

On arrival you will find freshly cut garden flowers, and a welcome tray with special touches including homemade biscuits, Dorset tea, fresh eggs from the hens in the orchard, a selection of Dorset Cereals and doggy treats.

In the right season you may well be treated to freshly picked salad leaves, herbs, soft fruit and vegetables from their veggie garden.

Children are welcome to help feed the chickens and collect the eggs by arrangement.

Beaminster nestles beneath the rolling West Dorset downland within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Around its square is the Conservation Area which boasts over 200 Grade II listed buildings, many of which are built from mellow hamstone. This thriving rural community offers a good selection of shops, inns and restaurants, whilst each summer hosts a popular music and arts festival. The local area abounds in a network of footpaths, one leads to the village of Netherbury, the site of the original River Cottage TV programme. An easy drive will see you in the lively market town of Bridport and to West Bay (TV's Broadchurch) on Dorset's stunning Jurassic Coast, whilst Lyme Regis, Dorchester and Weymouth are all easily accessible.
