    About this property

This fascinating converted barn with grand piano, is set in a wild, landscaped garden and enjoys views over the farm to the harbour.
If wild things make the heart sing, visit Arne Peninsula (featured on Spring Watch). This fascinating detached house, converted from a barn with great flair and imagination by its architect owner, is idyllically and peacefully set in a landscaped ‘wild’ garden with sitting-out areas, Arne Barn, which has been within the family for many years, offers a very unusual and welcoming retreat. There is an interesting mix of artefacts, ornaments and personal touches using a ‘nature’s theme’, as well as a vast array of books and traditional family games. With views over a farm, and glimpses of the harbour beyond, it is an ideal spot to explore the Dorset coastline, the Purbecks and rspb nature trail at Arne. "Awesome place to hang out, especially in the colder/ darker months with the wood burner."

"We really enjoyed our stay at Arne Barn. Having the RSPB reserve on our doorstep was fantastic for walks and runs, but only a short hop to Corfe and Wareham for supplies. The cafe at the reserve does breakfast which we didn't need but handy to know! The barn was very comfortable for us and there's plenty of space. We liked watching the birds come to the window feeder and the fact it was so quiet all around."

"An inspirational place that has become more so over the years. The Red deer in the adjacent field made it even more magical. The owners’ creativity has made the place much more than just accommodation."

"Such a lovely converted barn. It suited young and old alike. Ground floor is not divided up, so the young had space. Bedrooms quiet enough to suit the old. Beautiful unique gardens all round the house. And a delightful spot, easy access to beach and woodland walks. Altogether wonderful."

"A lovely property right at the end of Arne Lane. A herd of Red,Deer in the paddock of Arne Farm was a great surprise and walks through the numerous paths of the nature reserve saw Sika deer, foxes, badgers, rabbits and lots of birds, a lizard and a toad. The property is well equipped with old board games entertaining us but still Sky TV if we needed it."

"Arne Barn is in a great location if you want a quiet holiday surrounded by wildlife, yet it is still only five minutes to Wareham with great restaurants and cute little shops. Arne Barn is much more spacious than seems in the photos and the kids had a whale of a time in the property. Plenty of comfy settees for the six of us, comfy beds. The bird feeder on the kitchen window was a delight; woodpeckers and nuthatches feeding from it all day long. It is open plan which didn't work well for us (two parents, two kids, two grandparents) as you can hear everything going on downstairs in the kitchen and lounge from the bedrooms. Also there is only one shower which is in the ensuite which is problematic if there are six of you staying. The bunk beds were great fun for the kids but hard for adults to access as the entrance is very narrow, and the top bunk is very high up. My son slipped through the bars of the lower bunk and ended up hanging by his head (funny now but not at the time), so not suitable for younger ones. All the house was extremely clean except for the kitchen which was (bizarrely) utterly filthy. Judging from the layers of grease, cobwebs and layers of dust and stale crumbs it hadn't had a deep clean for a long old time."

"Delightful barn packed with antiques yet having a contemporary feel. Lots of imagination, thought and taste put into the furnishing. A very comfortable place to relax with plenty of great walks on the doorstep. There is a small secluded and quiet beach some twenty minutes walk away. Our whole family thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend Arne Barn to all."

"This converted barn is situated in a peaceful, idyllic situation, with woodpeckers, nuthatches and other birds frequent visitors. However, I feel that as the majority of lawn was left wild we were unable to let the dogs roam freely in most of the garden which spoilt our stay a little. If you advertise a large garden it should be useable. Also, the cooking utensils and cutlery were not very clean so we had to start washing it before we used it. Arne Barn could do with a little updating."

"We had a family Christmas there. The space was brilliant and the downstairs great. It was clean but there were cobwebs. I appreciate it is a barn but laying in bed didn't like looking at layers of dust above our head on the rafters and ornaments. Beds weren't as comfortable as would have liked, maybe a bit of updating needed? But the bird life and the surroundings were fantastic. And it was lovely and warm. The log burner made it really cosy and the size of table etc perfect for a large family get together."
