About this property

Cucumber sandwichs and Ginger beer would not be a miss at Tavern Cottage. Set in the heart of Corfe Castle, believed to be the inspiration for Kirrin Castle in Enid Blyton's famous Five Series, Tavern Cottage is just a short stroll from Corfe Castle ruins, and has it's own private view of the castle from the bottom of the garden. Ideally located for exploring many of Dorset's other famous features such as Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, and Old Harry's Rock at Studland, there are plenty of exciting adventures for you to have during your stay.

The area of Purbeck has a special beauty with sweeping headlands, steeply ridged hills, heathland areas and coastline. Studland which is close by has a famous National Trust owned sandy beach which is approached via unspoilt scenery. You may take your car by the Studland chain ferry to Poole which is a real thrill for children. The village of Corfe Castle offers special gift and craft shops, several up market eating houses and coffee shops with cream teas. Much of the area is in the ownership of the Natural Trust and is designated as an area of outstanding beauty. Although the property fronts the main Wareham to Swanage road, secondary double glazing has been installed to minimise any road noise.

Accommodation: Lounge with dining area. Galley kitchen. Bathroom with bath/shower over, hand basin and toilet. Wooden cottage stairs ( narrow tread and slightly steep stairs) to 1st floor: bedroom 1 double bed, bedroom 2 twin beds.

Services in addition to standard equipment: Wifi. Night storage heating. Fridge and Washing Machine. Long lawned garden leading to open fields.  Please be aware gardeners will be attending the property intermittently throughout the year for essential garden maintenance.  Parking directly outside cottage, subject to availability.  Non-smokers only.  Cot.  Bed linen inclusive.

Nice clean and cosy. Great garden and access onto common, great for us and the dog - stayed August 2017

We enjoyed our stay very much in the cottage. It is in an excellent location and a great garden for the dog. The garden leads onto the most beautiful scenery which takes your breath away. We appreciated being allowed to park on the wide pavement in front. A well-equipped cottage with everything you need in the kitchen. I loved it. Stayed August 2017.
