This charming mews-style, Grade II listed cottage is located in the old quarter within easy reach of the heart of Shaftesbury, Dorset. A quiet, stone-built cottage making this a lovely holiday home, with plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants only a three minute walk away; this is an ideal break for family and friends alike. Inside, there is a well-appointed kitchen with a breakfast bar, whilst the cosy sitting room and dining area looks out onto the quaint neighbouring cottages. There are three comfortable bedrooms upstairs with a family bathroom and for added flexibility there is also a ground floor cloakroom. Outside, enjoy a cup of coffee in the sunny courtyard garden, before going for a stroll around the charismatic town centre or before setting off on the many local walks and cycle routes that pass the door. Enjoy the scenic views over the lush Blackmore Vale, and discover the iconic, steep and cobbled Gold Hill, which was featured in the famous Hovis advert. There is always something to do in Shaftesbury; craft and antique fairs, flower and music festivals, farmers’ markets, theatre and arts exhibitions to name but a few! Should you tire of the town itself, venture out to explore the scenic Blackmore Vale, Thomas Hardy's 'Vale of the Little Dairies', which is dotted with thatched cottage villages and has sparkling chalk streams. Alternatively, explore a little further afield to ancient Sherborne with its castles and abbey and the National Trust's Stourhead House and beautiful gardens. Longleat Safari Park, Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum, Stonehenge and Salisbury are also fabulous places to visit, whilst the stunning Dorset Jurassic Coast is another perfect area to explore. This lovely cottage is a really convenient town centre holiday base at any time of the year.
One of Dorsets prettiest and most historic towns, Shaftesbury is perched on a spur of rolling green hills, and the views in all directions are without comparison. Lush green meadows, woodland glades, outstanding architecture are all within a short walk. One of the best vantage points is from Gold Hill (the famous Hovis advert was filmed here) with its quaint, cobbled and very steep street.
