Set behind the owner’s home, both the Hayloft (ref UK10201) and the Granary (ref UK10221) are two, converted semi-detached properties, located in the simply stunning, Dorset village of Milton Abbas. Mid-way between the Dorset county town of Dorchester and the market town of Blandford Forum. The picture-postcard village of Milton Abbas with its 36 almost identical thatched roofed cottages, an Almshouse, church and local pub, were constructed in a Georgian gothic-style in the 1780’s, after the owner of Milton Abbas said the old location of the village was ruining his view from the abbey, and therefore the local village was moved to its current location.
Milton Abbas hosts an 18th-century historic country fair every 2 years, where they celebrate the rebuilding of the present village. This event attracts thousands of visitors and is one of the key events in the Dorset calendar.
Milton Abbas is in an ideal location for exploring the Dorset countryside and many tourist attractions on offer. Milton Abbey is open for visitors as is Athelhampton House and Kingston Lacey. There is also the world famous Cerne Abbas Giant. Just a short drive away, you can find yourself in the Dorset coastal resorts of Poole, Bournemouth, Swanage and Weymouth, all of which offer water sports, beaches, locally sourced fish and chips and Dorset cream teas. Don’t miss the unique and iconic geological Dorset coastline where you can find Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door along the unesco World Heritage Jurassic Coastline. Beach 17 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

"Cottage is in beautiful village ideally place for visiting places of interest around the area.Very friendly owners who made sure we had everything we needed. Would recommend 'The Granary'."
"A lovely peaceful place to stay, clean and comfortable, a great base to explore Dorset."
"We only stayed at The Granary for 3 nights while we waited for our new house to be ready. The living accommodation is small but well planned to make good use of the space. There is a separate kitchen which is very well equipped. The owners run the local tearooms which are just down the steps from The Granary - these are to be recommended. Our stay happened to coincide with the biennial Milton Abbas Street Fair. This added a wonderful extra dimension to our weekend. The owners were very helpful - especially considering they had a busy weekend catering for visitors to the Fair."
