    Boxwood is a high quality property, exquisitely presented and sleeps six guests. The beautiful woodland area is fantastic for dog walkers.
    Located in a tranquil, rural setting on the beautiful Bere Peninsula, the tiny hamlet of Hewton nestles within a unesco World Heritage Site on the rolling fields that run down to the Tamar Estuary, which forms the Devon/Cornwall border. The properties are superbly appointed and a real credit to the owners. From the extensive 5-acre gardens there are the most spectacular views down the valley and over the river where yachts lie moored. The owners’ formal garden is beautifully landscaped and is home to many unusual and exotic plants, a koi pond and large, mature trees. The outdoor heated swimming pool is surrounded by decking and there are sun loungers and garden furniture for guests to relax on and admire the view. There is a large field towards the bottom of the gardens and a mature wooded valley. These properties offer complete tranquil relaxation in a truly picturesque setting - ideal for couples as well as those with children. On the doorstep are splendid walks, cycle routes and horse riding with tennis, golf, fishing, sailing and canoeing available locally. The ancient stannery town of Tavistock, Dartmoor and several NT properties (including Cotehele and Buckland Abbey) are close by, and the beaches of South and North Devon within an hour’s drive. Offering a very warm welcome, the spacious, beamed living room is a wonderful area for families or friends to get together, or for couples to relax, unwind and enjoy the serenity of this luxury home. Beautiful slate flooring runs through the kitchen, where up to 4 guests can enjoy a meal at the dining table. There are 2 bedrooms, one of which has a super kingsize bed. In the warmer months, the beautiful landscaped garden is the absolute ideal place to enjoy spectacular views down the valley, and over the river where yachts are moored. Take a dip in the outdoor heated swimming pool, which is surrounded by decking, sun loungers and garden furniture, so you can enjoy a glass of wine, al fresco dining and admire the wonderful views. Splendid walks, cycle routes, horse riding and many more outdoor activities can be enjoyed from the doorstep. The ancient stannery town of Tavistock, Dartmoor and several National Trust properties are close by. If you can pull yourself away from the fabulous pool and garden, the beaches of South and North Devon can be reached within an hour’s drive. Shops 2 miles.

    "The cottage itself was excellent as were the grounds ,but it was isolated. The nearest pub was too far away to walk and there were no footpaths. The neatest shops were several miles away and Tavistock was 7 miles. However we enjoyed our stay and the owners were very helpful and informative."

    "Amenities scoring is less because there are no local amenities but that was the best thing. It is only 7 miles to Tavistock where there are Supermarkets"

    "Lovely cottage, friendly owners next door, good pool and big gardens with fantastic views. Great if you want to get away from it all but a bit off the beaten track so takes a while to get anywhere."

    "A lovely location, with great views over the Tamar valley, although you inevitably pay a small price for being in such a beautiful setting - the nearest village is a good 15 min drive away through some very small country lanes. However the nearest Village (B. Alston) is better equipped than most with a train station, 3 village stores and a butchers. The cottage was spotless - we could not fault the cleanliness in any way - and very well-equipped. There is a communal pool which our children loved. All rental cottages have quirks - Boxwood's is that the tumble dryer and freezer were across the drive in an outhouse; this was not an issue for our short stay in summer. The only real negative we could think of is that the cottage has no attached garden. Even this has been considered, with a separate section of the garden (complete with BBQ and summerhouse), allocated to the cottage. This suited us fine, but had we brought our dog the lack of an attached garden could have been an issue. Would definitely come again."

    "Our family of 3 had a great 4 night break staying at Boxwood. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The cottage is very spacious for a family of 4 with the added benefit of the shared use of an outdoor heated pool as well as a private large garden with a barbeque area and views of the estuary. The pool kept our young teenager happy after a day of sightseeing. A large welcome chocolate sponge cake and flowers were a nice touch. There was also access to a large DVD library, 2 televisions, a large free standing bath and a well stocked kitchen including a dishwasher and washing machine."

    "Very well presented cottage, with a well equipped kitchen. Great walking from the front door and easy access to Dartmoor and Rame.The rural location suited us well, but be aware that other than a well-stocked Co-op in the nearby village, there's not a lot else close at hand. Thanks to the welcoming owners for such a lovely stay."

    "Lovely cottage and very friendly hosts. As it's an old place the heating can take a little while to get going but they helpfully provide blankets to snuggle under. Only thing that could have improved it would have been basics like a pint of milk and some tea bags on arrival as your reliant on village shops a short drive away which might not be open when you get there. Overall would use again :)"
