    About this property

There are few more picturesque places than this Dartmoor farmstead surrounded by trees at the end of a private farm lane. Along the lane is this spacious coach house, complete with your own indoor swimming pool, games room and sauna, meaning the family will never be bored, whatever the weather brings. The accommodation is elegant and comfortable with lots of windows and big rooms to relax in. Chill out by the open fire in the big living room fireplace, gather around the table or the piano in the dining room which opens to a patio, or cook up a storm in the smart kitchen. A den with wood burner and second TV is another cosy room, and the children get their own little snug with toys too. Upstairs, the master double with its handsome mahogany bed boasts an en suite shower room, and there are four more bedrooms. The beauty of this wonderful farmstead is the range of activities available, with a shared outdoor swimming pool, tennis court, games room and gym. You can wander where you choose on the 250 acre farm, with its pond, animals and plentiful wildlife, and help too if you bring your wellies. Get stuck into country pursuits in the shape of clay pigeon shooting, archery and mountain biking, or bring your own horses on holiday and ride on the moors which are just beyond the farm’s fields (small extra charges may apply). You will eat like kings on this traditional farm, with eggs and fresh seasonal veg often available, or the friendly owner provides a sumptuous menu of evening meals; for eating out, Lydford is renowned for its two excellent food pubs. If you can tear yourselves away from the farm, there is dramatic Dartmoor to explore by foot, bicycle or car, plunging Lydford Gorge and a ruined castle. Water sports are on offer at Roadford Lake and Tavistock is an historic market town full of interest. This is an ideal spot for a family holiday with lots to do on site or in the area.

Nestling among mature woodland on the western slopes of Dartmoor, the historic village of Lydford is a jewel in this area of outstanding scenic beauty. To the north, just half a mile away, the high tors come right down to the village edge, while to the south the River Lyd winds its way through Lydford Forest on its tumbling course northwards.

    Mrs Howse ‐ 1 Sep 2019
"Very comfortable with plenty of room for adults and children. In beautiful location on edge of moors but close enough to Tavistock for shopping etc."
    Mr Helliar ‐ 1 Aug 2019
" Although the weather was poor the house was well placed for trips across Devon and into Cornwall, which we did. The games rooms, plunge pool and sauna were great fun for us all and we enjoyed the spacious house and grounds. It was also good for our two dogs who enjoyed themselves. Would recommend for a large family together. "

" Our extended family have just had a week's stay here & we did not want to leave! The owners were so friendly & generously welcomed us with homemade cakes & fresh flowers. Great size of house with a layout that worked really well for big family meals, playing games & relaxing. We loved the pool & sauna, the games rooms & the garden. The weather was fantastic & we were able to use the barbecue & to eat outdoors on the delightful terrace. Ideally placed for visiting lots of interesting places & enjoying walks & countryside. Pubs serving delicous food only a short drive away. Would love to return. "
    Mrs Payne ‐ 1 Apr 2019
" The only thing was we were a all adult family and could have done with another single bed instead of the bunks, but we managed. And enjoyed the facilities. And would stay there again if we are in that area. "

" It is a beautiful house with more than enough room for our group of 6 adults and 5 children. The facilities were exactly as described and we felt right at home. The owners were so welcoming and took us clay pigeon shooting! We will be returning. "

"After a recommendation I booked the Coach house for mine and my granddaughters birthday, it was the perfect choice. Arrived to a lovely batch of chocolate brownies and a pot of tea. It is right on the moors, so lots of nice walks. The children thoroughly enjoyed the endless pool and especially the farm. The owners Tim and Victoria were very welcoming and were on hand at all times. You can wander around the farm, which is a breeding farm and the children were ecstatic at being able to feed the orphan lambs, I think that was the highlight of their trip. We took our little dog, who was welcomed by the owners 2 dogs, who wander in and out. Our dog became the lady of the manor, sitting on the front doorstep watching over her patch!!! Back to the house, it has all the provisions for a large group. The bed was so comfy, with a big fluffy duvet and pillows. Only niggle was, with 3 children who like to get out into the mud and rain, we needed to wash clothes regularly, but unfortunately the washing machine did not work. We phoned the owners and Tim came over straight away and got it going, but then it gave up. We washed everything by hand, so, a new one would be beneficial, however, this in no way impacted on the break. So overall I would definitely comeback. Thank you Tim and Victoria."

"We were extremely lucky and had hot sunny weather all week, but even if it had rained every day there were numerous indoor activities to keep us entertained. The indoor "endless" pool and the games room were a particular favourite with the children."
