About this property

This detached house dating from the 1920s is situated in a cul-de-sac on the hill looking over the Devon town of Tavistock. Light and comfortable, it is a friendly base for couples or families to enjoy discovering Devon and Dartmoor. The front door to the hall then takes you into the attractive sitting room with its open fire and bay window giving views of the garden. On sunny days, head on through into the sun room. Meals can be enjoyed in the dining room or in the breakfast room off the kitchen, which has a handy table for four. A large utility room with shower room completes the ground floor. The views over the town from the two double bedrooms which you will find upstairs are charming, and there is a pretty little single bedroom too, which shares the family bathroom. To the front of the house, you have an enclosed garden with pretty plants, small fenced pond and a terrace where you can enjoy alfresco meals at the table and chairs. For eating out, wander down into Tavistock town centre where you will find a choice of restaurants, as well as the leisure centre, theatre, pubs and shops. From the town, the 21 mile Drakes Trail heads off to Plymouth, a great way to get to the city by bike or on foot. The city’s amenities are 15 miles by road, and in just another five miles you reach the lovely sandy beaches of the South Hams. With golf, horse riding and National Trust places to visit at Lydford Gorge, Saltram House, Buckland Abbey and Cotehele, there is plenty to keep you occupied when you enjoy a holiday at Old Berkeley.

A delightful award-winning market town on the River Tavy, nestling in the south-west slopes of Dartmoor. Tavistock has an indoor pannier market, a diverse range of shops, an excellent choice of pubs, bistros, restaurants, a theatre and a cinema, as well as a leisure pool.
