… within the Dartmoor National Park, a mile from Tavistock and sheltering privately in wooded farmland, is Grenofen Manor. The Shippen is a semi-detached ‘upside-down’ cottage converted from an old milking parlour, one of the many beautiful barns and stables which served the manor house. It has pretty views of well-kept flower-filled grounds and long views to the moor, and its own little secluded garden (table/chairs) for sunbathing/snoozing (not ball games). Lots of footpaths around.
Open-plan living/dining/kitchen (slimline dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, freezer, fridge, electric range-style cooker) with TV/DVD and stable doors to little conservatory with cane chairs leading to garden. Downstairs, two bedrooms – a double and a twin (hooks for clothes-hanging); bathroom (suite with shower over bath). Tumble-drier and secure bicycle storage opposite, in part of garage. A lovely quiet place.

"The Shippen is a sunny, upside-down house (bedrooms downstairs) with lovely split-door features at the bottom of a private lane next to fields full of sheep and lambs. Just open the windows to add birdsong. It is well-equipped with TV/Freeview, CD player, washing machine and dishwasher, and is suitable for children and/or dogs. The location is excellent for access to local river walks, Tavistock's indoor market and fun pool, Dartmoor and Cornwall. Our daughter appreciated the bathtub, but the over-the-bath shower was the only disappointment in this lovely cottage. Planning to revisit in near future. "
