Snaptrip says

Bowbeer Barn in Devon is highly praised for its cleanliness, comfortable setting, and welcoming atmosphere. Guests appreciate the friendly owners, the presence of farm animals, and the property's proximity to Dartmoor for exploration. The thoughtful touches, such as cream teas and fresh eggs, add to the charm of this rural retreat, making it a favoured choice for both families and pet owners.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviewers consistently mention the property's cleanliness, describing it as 'spotless' and 'very clean', indicating a high standard maintained by the owners.

The location is celebrated for its idyllic setting and proximity to Dartmoor, with guests enjoying the rural charm and nearby attractions. Some mention narrow lanes, but this does not detract significantly from the overall positive feedback.

Guests find the property comfortable and homely, with several positive comments about the beds and living spaces. A few remarks about hard mattresses on twin beds suggest a slight room for improvement.

The barn is well-equipped and modern, with special mentions of the kitchen utensils and wood burner. However, some comments about worn bedding and mismatched cutlery indicate that certain facilities could be updated.

Many reviewers express gratitude for the thoughtful gestures such as cream teas, fresh eggs, and flowers. While these gifts are warmly received, it is important to note that such personal touches, though common, are not guaranteed with every stay.

About this property

This detached cottage converted from a Victorian barn is situated on a large beef and sheep farm just over a mile from the Devon village of Drewsteignton. With an upside down layout, it is an exceptionally peaceful place to relax and enjoy the peace and unpolluted night skies. Steps from the garden take you into the open plan oak-floored living space, light and airy with seating area with wood burning stove, dining area and kitchen. Stairs lead you down to the two en suite bedrooms and a useful space for leaving coats and boots after lovely countryside walks. The enclosed garden is a great spot to chill out and gaze at long rural views to Dartmoor whilst you cook on the barbecue and eat alfresco. You will have worked up an appetite by walking the fields or perhaps going a little further afield to the open spaces of Dartmoor. You are welcome to bring your rods to fish for carp in the small farm pond. Surrounded by spectacular scenery and with the little town of Chagford and Exeter city within easy reach, Bowbeer Barn is a great central spot for exploring Devon.

Drewsteignton sits high above the River Teign as it meanders through a spectacular steep wooded Teign Gorge. It is a chocolate box village with a cluster of ancient cob and thatched cottages surrounding a square, complete with an ancient church.

Very comfortable Cottage with very good facilities and provisions. The upside down layout meant lovely view over the fields. It can be a bit challenging for people with mobility issues, but the gate at the top and solid rails provided good safety. Woodburning stove and well stocked kitchen were great. The homemade scones with cream and jam on arrival were a lovely welcome. Name customer: David

Very comfortable beds, lovely touches such as toiletries, milk, scones, eggs, Prosecco and of course, the Christmas tree. Lots of useful information in the barn about barn and local area. So nice to hear and see the cows across the way, our daughter loved waking up to them. Owners we quick to answer any queries. Perfect location for exploring Devon and Cornwall. Would definitely recommend this accommodation. Thank you for a wonderful holiday. Happy New Year to Jackie, Adrian and family
