About this property

For peace and tranquillity, this semi-detached cottage is in just the right place, converted from a milking parlour quietly set in countryside dotted with woods and trees on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park. The layout is carefully designed with the open-plan living area upstairs to give an airy space with long views to moorland and stable doors to a conservatory, a lovely place to enjoy a good book and a cuppa. Sharing a shower-room are two downstairs bedrooms. The private garden is a secluded little place for catching the sun’s rays or taking a relaxing nap. When you've topped up your energy levels, this is a fine base for walking, with footpaths heading into the surrounding countryside and Dartmoor’s hills beyond. Two miles away you'll find Tavistock, a handsome old market town where you can browse the interesting shops and pannier market, eat well at the restaurants and pubs, work out at the leisure centre and catch a film or event at the wharfside theatre. The 21 mile walking /cycling route heads from Tavistock to Plymouth if you fancy a pilgrimage to the bright city lights (or it’s 15 miles by car). If you do bring your bike, there is secure storage at the cottage. For more sedate entertainment, the National Trust gems of Saltram House, Lydford Gorge, Buckland Abbey and Cotehele are all nearby to admire, and golf and horse riding are both available in the area. The golden beaches of the South Hams are just 20 miles away. The Shippen is a lovely quiet base, yet there are plenty of fascinating places to enjoy nearby.

A delightful award-winning market town on the River Tavy, nestling in the south-west slopes of Dartmoor. Tavistock has an indoor pannier market, a diverse range of shops, an excellent choice of pubs, bistros, restaurants, a theatre and a cinema, as well as a leisure pool.
