The magnificent city of Exeter is easily accessible by car and is certainly worth a day trip with its superlative architecture and elite shopping facilities. For a leisurely day out, head to the award-winning market town of Tavistock on the western edge of the National Park, which has a wide range of shops, a pannier market, restaurants and traditional pubs included the award winning gastro pub The Cornish Arms, as well as an indoor swimming pool, cinema and a theatre. The busy market town of Okehampton lies within the Dartmoor National Park and is very close to the highest and also the most dramatic parts of the moor. It is herewhere Yes Tor rises to the height of over 2,000 feet. The town also has views across Dartmoor, access to fabulous walks, and Simmons Park where youll find a childrens adventure playground.
