Very friendly and personable. Nothing is too much trouble for them. We felt well looked after and catered for. They went above and beyond for us. The Gate House is a fabulous place to stay to recharge your batteries. Beautiful surroundings. Very interesting history. Inside it has everything you would ever need plus more! Beds & sofas comfortable. Linens, fixtures, fittings, all high quality. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Well stocked kitchen and lovely welcome basket of biscuits & Prosecco! Lots of spare items available such as batteries, plug charger and more. All the type of things you might forget to take away but would have in your own home. The clothes airers were great for towels after the hot tub. All of the cushions and throws in bedrooms and living areas were freshly washed for our stay. The underfloor heating was fab on bare feet! Hot tub brilliant and Jennie popped by to check the chemicals and top up during the week and did let us know first. As a family we had lots of fun in the games room. Karaoke, Air Hockey, Arcade Golf, Table Football plus other bits in the 'Hayloft'. Also board games and cards etc downstairs in living room with a massive coffee table to play them on! Property was secure all round. Outside in the glorious back garden alongside a prestigious hot tub was badminton, a BBQ stand, a lovely chairs and table, a pung pong table and plenty of accompanying bats, balls etc. On the doorstep a tranquil stroll through old church grounds and shops etc all a short car journey away. Being located in the middle of the UK map, it is an ideal location to visit lots of places such as Matlock Bath, Chesterfield, Nottingham and more. There was a really helpful guide folder in the Gatehouse we looked through for places to visit, which also had lots of helpful information eg Chemists, GPS, hospitals, vets, butchers, bakery, etc. By far the best family holiday we have had. Would definitely recommend!

Everything was taken care of for us with even a New Gift for us and our 4 legged baby. Jennie was a pleasure to deal with with excellent instruction on how to find the property and everything clearly labelled inside

The house was perfect. The bedrooms were beautifully laid out and the beds very comfortable. The downstairs open plan enabled everyone to be together and the kitchen was one of the best equipped I have seen in a holiday home. We were easily able to cook and serve an early Christmas dinner. The hot tub was an added bonus and the small games room in the attic would be ideal for families with children. The owner was easily contactable and very helpful. We much appreciated being able to bring our dogs. I would struggle to find any fault with this property: good position, clean, cosy with very efficient underfloor heating, comfortable, well appointed, beautifully decorated (we especially appreciated the Christmas trees and decorations) good secure garden for the dogs to play safely, even a wine fridge to keep our drinks cool. Our only tiny issue was in knowing how to operate the TV after the youngest members of our group went home but that’s a generation thing and not a problem with the TV. (Strangely our Jack Russell was terrified of the sound made by one of the remote controls so we gave up on that). I would definitely recommend the Gatehouse and hope to return some time next year. Thank you for a lovely weekend
