About this property

Burnville Farm is a lovely traditional farmstead hidden in trees on the edge of open Dartmoor two miles from the Devon village of Lydford. The Red Barn is situated a mile away by car or ten minutes across fields from the farmyard. With two other holiday homes, you enjoy access to the 250 acre farm with its farm animals, pond for picnicking beside and wildlife, and you are even welcome to help on the farm if you wish. There are all kinds of wonderful activities available here. There is a seasonal outdoor swimming pool and a tennis court (shared with the owners), plus a games room and well equipped gym in an adapted barn. You can arrange to experience clay pigeon shooting and archery, or have fun games of badminton or volleyball. Golf and gliding are on offer just a couple of miles from Burnville Farm. With direct access to the open moors from the farm, this is lovely walking country and you can arrange to use mountain bikes too or bring your own horses. With seasonal eggs and veg available, plus the option of meals in the owner's' house or professional catering in your own holiday home, you can feast like kings. The hall leads into the big living room with wood burning stove and French windows to the terrace. The pretty kitchen with dining area is well equipped, and through a lockable door is your own ‘endless flow’ indoor swimming pool with treadmill and rowing machine. Upstairs, the three bedrooms are all en suite but with their own character. With all the activities on site, plus the beautiful hills of Dartmoor beyond, Roadford Lake for water sports and pubs and amenities in Lydford and Tavistock, the Red Barn is a fine place to truly relax and have fun.

Nestling among mature woodland on the western slopes of Dartmoor, the historic village of Lydford is a jewel in this area of outstanding scenic beauty. To the north, just half a mile away, the high tors come right down to the village edge, while to the south the River Lyd winds its way through Lydford Forest on its tumbling course northwards.

Very old creaky wardrobes and drawers so lived out of our suit cases for the week.Only one very small tv in main bedroom none in the other two.quilts were winter ones and sounded like a packet of crisps every time you moved.Downstairs lounge tv very small for such a big room and old and dated.Kitchen tea towels were old ,stained and full of holes. One tiny little drop of milk was your welcome pack of groceries. The garden at the back was glorious to look out onto, the only really good thing about the place, and the size of the house itself. As for the endless flow indoor pool !!! Only fit for children to play in not for adults to swim. For a farm house I suppose it's fine but if your looking for a 4 or 5 star rating home this is not it.It would be great for children and dogs who don't care about how clean the place is etc but for us unfortunately we were not impressed especially for the money we paid.Great property to look at and wonderful gardens but inside needs updating etc etc a small drop of milk was a poor show to welcome guests into your home. Sorry but have to be truthful about our experience.
