    About this property

Cosy, pet friendly holiday retreat for couples, ideal for exploring Cornwall and Devon’s attractions.

Netherbridge Farm is a cluster of beautiful stone barns (refs W43405, W43406 and W43407) converted into simply stunning holiday homes. The properties are superbly equipped with bright, light contemporary interior decor and furnishings, and are set in 7 acres of private lawned grounds with two pretty lakes stocked with carp, and a paddock where sheep graze alongside the lakes. Netherbridge was formerly a working farm, now totally redeveloped and landscaped; located just off the A388 on the outskirts of Launceston, making this is a superb location for exploring both Cornwall and Devon, being so close to the River Tamar which forms the border between the two counties. The properties are ideal for couples, families with children or groups of friends to come and relax in tranquil surroundings. For a larger family, two or more cottages may be booked together to enjoy a holiday as a group and there is plenty of space here for all. The properties are open all year round and offer short breaks, so whether it’s for a summer week in Cornwall or a short break when it’s quieter in the autumn and winter, there is always a home from home on offer here. Launceston, or Lansun as the Cornish pronounce it, is an historic town, with the ruins of a Norman castle, built around 1070 AD, perched high up on a hill. There is a good shopping area for essential items, and lots to do in and around the area for all ages. Visit the castle, take a trip on a steam train at Launceston Steam Railway, see otters playing and learn about nature at the Tamar Otter Park, step back in history at Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre, enjoy a round at Trethorne Golf Club or explore The Tamar Trail. There are some fabulous beaches along the north Cornwall coastline, and the Atlantic coast ranges from gorgeous sandy beaches, ideal for young children, to surf beaches for the more adventurous. Enjoy stunning coastal vistas of dramatic cliffs, and hidden coves and picturesque harbours can also be admired. One such harbour is Port Issac where the TV series ‘Doc Martin’ is filmed. Another favourite is Tintagel, steeped in the mystery of kings and dragons. Bude is a family favourite, and Crackington Haven is popular with holidaymakers and locals alike. High up on Bodmin Moor, just south of Launceston, is the famous Jamaica Inn - the smugglers’ inn, written about by the author Daphne du Maurier. Nearer home and just down the road from Netherbridge Farm is Homeleigh Garden Centre, a fabulous place to visit which is stocked with beautiful plants. Not just a garden centre, it has much more on offer, including a large restaurant, pet area, gifts and kitchenware, clothing, ponds and garden ornaments, and a large farm shop selling a great selection of local produce. You can stop off before you leave and stock up on some Cornish plants or foods to take back home as a memento of your holiday here in truly glorious Cornwall. "The barn was lovely, much bigger than we expected. It was in a peaceful setting and had good transport links. The internet did not work throughout the trip despite us raising this with the owners - this affects the use of the TV so I would advise the owners to remove the reference to internet on their description"

"No Cottage Book to explain how things worked like the Aga and Central Heating, did ask for one but not forthcoming. Asked that the outside light be fixed as the area 'pitch' black at night. Came and saw light did not fix left light on in next cottage not much use really. We did enjoy our stay and would return, but it missed being a superb cottage as there was little touches missing which we have come to expect in other cottages of the same ilk."

"Fantastic buildings & quality conversion! However we felt that on-site service was lacking, :-No instructions for equipment (particularly cooking/heating with a Rayburn oven)Quite a few lightbulbs not working especially outside the front door, tricky at night!Teapot leaks, not enough cutlery especially with a dishwasher, no clock, cushions would be a nice touch.Perhaps a visit on the 1st day after arrival to check all OK would help (both sides!) along with some sort of property information, local facilities, contact no's, restaurants & somewhere for guests to leave feedback, hints & tips for future visitors.Nice touch with the tea & biscuits (& Chocolate!)"
