Snaptrip says

The Cottage in BIDEFORD is highly praised for its friendly owners, comfortable setting, and excellent location. Guests enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen, cosy living spaces, and the added bonus of a cream tea on arrival. The property's proximity to local attractions and beaches was appreciated, as was the peaceful rural setting. While most reviews are positive, one guest raised concerns about cleanliness and maintenance.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Most guests found The Cottage to be clean and tidy, with a welcoming atmosphere. However, one review mentioned issues with cleanliness and tired kitchen fittings, which slightly lowers the overall score.

The location is consistently praised for being peaceful yet conveniently close to amenities, attractions, and beaches, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.

Guests found the accommodation comfortable, with special mentions of cosy beds and a warm, inviting atmosphere. The presence of a log burner and comfortable sofas added to the overall comfort.

The Cottage is well-regarded for its well-equipped kitchen and quality appliances. However, one review cited issues with heating and outdated bed linen, suggesting some areas could benefit from updates or repairs.

The hosts' thoughtfulness is evident in the frequent mentions of a cream tea on arrival, which delighted guests. It should be noted that such gestures, while common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Nestling in unspoiled countryside, just a few miles from the north Devon coast, The Cottage, is one of three self-catering holiday cottages positioned on a working farm with children’s play area and fishing lakes on site. The perfect choice for a traditional family holiday, the cottage adjoins the rear of the owners’ farmhouse and overlooks the farmyard and lake. A single-storey building with open plan kitchen and dining area, there is a cosy living room, pleasantly furnished with modern woodburning stove. Two bedrooms offer versatile sleeping with one double room and a family room with a double bed and two single beds. There is a separate shower room. The owners’ farmland extends over 100 acres and often you will encounter the sheep who act as useful lawnmowers and keep the grass cut in the picnic area. There is a large play area to keep children amused or why not have a go at a spot of fishing in the three lakes on site. Weather permitting guests can try their hand at clay pigeon shooting arranged through the owner. Just a few miles away is the glorious flat sands at Westward Ho! an ideal family beach with gently shelving sands and rock pools for little ones’ to play. Nearby, RHS gardens at Rosemoor and Docton Hill, and the coastal path and Tarka trail will appeal to those who enjoy exploring on foot or by bike. Family fun is on hand at The Big Sheep and there are nearby shops and supermarkets 2 miles away. With much on offer in and around the area The Cottage is an ideal choice for a fun filled family self-catering holiday.

Straddling the Torridge estuary, the quaint bustling town of Bideford boasts a medieval bridge, town quay, quaint pannier market and vibrant shopping area - all well worth a visit. For the more active, several major surfing beaches, golf courses, theme parks and other attractions are nearby and the South West coast path passes close by on its way into Cornwall. The beautiful cliff-top fishing village of Clovelly is half an hour by road, and the delights of Exmoor and Dartmoor can be reached in under an hour. Surf the waves, stroll through pretty villages, wander along the Tarka Trail, visit a famous garden or have some fun at one of the local theme or farm parks – it’s all on the doorstep.
