About this property

On Devon’s Hartland Peninsula, a coastal country area of outstanding natural beauty, minutes from a wildly dramatic stretch of the South West Coast Path, between the sandy, surfy beaches of Westward Ho! and Bude – and near the cobbled harbour village of Clovelly.

The small but perfectly formed Tack Room is a cosy self-catering retreat, one of seven charming holiday cottages converted from old stone farm buildings. It has a double bedroom (7.3 sq m), an en suite shower room and a kitchen area. Whilst it does not have a separate seating area, there is a bistro style table and chairs in the bedroom, and an outdoor sitting area.

The owners, their children, and dogs, live in the old farmhouse and are on hand and happy to help in any way they can.

Guests have free use of the on-site spa room with hot tub and sauna, a few steps away. Just book your private hour-long session and relax (please check availability for the time of your stay).

Wander through the courtyard to the shared garden with picnic tables, play area and views across open Devon countryside to the Atlantic sea beyond.

Guests are very welcome to join in with feeding the resident chickens, ducks and pigs each morning.

Short breaks available. Off-road parking available next to The Tack Room. One small well behaved dog welcome at an additional cost of £25 per stay.

The Tack Room can be booked together with 2 other adjacent cottages (property reference numbers 959901 and 959902) for larger groups of up to 10 guests.

North Devon’s Hartland Peninsula is a peaceful Area of Outstanding National Beauty with an Atlantic coastline. The South West Coast Path runs along it with views of Hartland Point lighthouse and Lundy Island. Harland village, a few miles back from the coast, has a post office and general store, and a monthly farmers’ market; potteries and craft shops, a friendly café and pubs serving food. A mile away, is Hartland Abbey House & Gardens (& tea room). Right down at the Hartland Quay there’s a small Shipwreck & Smuggling Museum, a very child and dog-friendly pub and hotel, and a beach. Families with young children enjoy the animals and attractions at the The Milky Way and Wake Park aqua park, and at The Big Sheep near Bideford.
