Richmond House is a grand property situated in the quaint village of Appledore, with decadent living areas and beautiful views across the estuary from a number of rooms.
The owners have retained many original features including pine floorboards and a slate fireplace alongside high quality furnishings to give your stay a touch of luxury. The open plan living and dining area is flooded with natural light from large sash windows where you can see glimpses of the estuary.
The split level courtyard area at the back is a perfect sun trap and the ideal spot to relax with a glass of wine after a day of exploring the local area.
Richmond House is the ideal base for those who love the beach. Take a short 3 mile trip to Westward Ho! where you’ll find two miles of sandy beach, popular with surfers and families.
You can catch a ferry between Appledore and Instow at high tide, a small seaside town with a long sandy beach. The estuary is an excellent place for water skiing, sailing and fishing. Children will love crabbing off Appledore Quay at high tide where competitions are held to see who has caught the most.

Richmond house is a wonderfully furnished, beautiful old house. Plenty of space for 6 adults. Furnishings and interior finishes are high quality and very elegant. We had some lovely quality time with our grown up children, the space is amazing, we all enjoyed lounging on the roomy sofas in front of the log burner. Keeping a house of this age and size must take lots of tlc and some parts are in need of attention, but nothing that would have spoilt our stay, overall we all had a great time. Appledore is a lovely village with good cafes and pubs and a good base for the larger North Devon resorts.

We stayed at Richmond House in a wet and blustery February week. From the moment we arrived we were very impressed by the property, Excellent WIFI, charming period features, cleanliness and a beautiful kitchen and plenty of space. Despite the seasonal weather, the house remained warm and inviting. Thoroughly enjoyable week with parents and children alike impressed by the house and its facilities.

We stayed for a week at Richmond House at Easter. The property was better than we could of imagined and in a great location. The furnishings of the rooms were lovely and a lot of thought and attention had been made. The views of the estuary were a delight to look out on each morning when you drew the curtains. The log burner in the lounge was great and with plenty of wood too. As a family we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to friends and definitely return when next in Appledore.
