    About this property

Ideal for families as a great retreat within a fantastic place that offers amazing local attractions.
High in the Devon hills above the Taw/Torridge estuaries Webbery Manor Estate is an oasis of rural tranquillity. Steeped in history and with several noteworthy owners, Webbery Manor Estate was first mentioned in the Doomsday Book. It was given to Nicholas the Crossbowman, by a grateful William the Conqueror as a Saxon manor. In the 17th century it passed to the Lippincott family, one of whom set sail with the Mayflower flotilla to settle in America. In the 18th century, John Cutcliffe, the grandson of the owner, fought at the battle of Waterloo and was personally promoted by the Duke of Wellington.
Set in 30 acres of parkland and woods, with grazing sheep, deer, owls, pheasant, birds of prey and other wildlife. The delightful gardens have numerous specimen trees and banks of rhododendrons giving a spectacular spring display. While the organic walled kitchen gardens grow some more unusual varieties of vegetables to the UK. You will find Romanesco, Cavelo Nero, and Pink Fir Apple potatoes to name a few, all complimentary subject to season and availability.

The barn doors replaced with full height picture windows with views towards the Bristol Channel and Lundy Island. Beautifully decorated and furnished with antique and period pieces, solid oak floors, and hand-made curtains. Relax in the stylish, living room with Chinese carpet, and wood-burning stove on marble hearth. There are comfortable chairs to relax on and watch the flat screen TV, and doors leading to the garden with views towards Lundy Island. The large bespoke kitchen with double range cooker is ideal for family breakfasts and informal evening meals round the large farmhouse table. The double en-suite bedroom room has triple aspect windows, brass bedstead and crisp fresh linen. The peaceful twin en-suite bedroom has period furniture, wood floor and plush bed linen.
The lively market town of Bideford makes an excellent day out, with weekly market and working harbour. With so many pubs and restaurants to choose from, why not treat yourself to a meal out before heading home. Fishing and horse riding can be found within 5 miles. Shops and pubs 5 miles.

"An exceptional holiday cottage, furnished to a very high standard. The property is set in extensive and well maintained grounds. We loved the vegetable garden where we could pick fresh vegetables and enjoy the home grown raspberries for breakfast. It is ideal for walking, cycling and exploring north Devon. But you do need to use your car to get about. Great holiday home, very quiet and peaceful. We can highly recommend it."

"The best equipped self catering accommodation we have been in.the grounds were a delight, lots of lovely trees.within easy reach of lovely coast line.great reception from the owner."

"Did not like the abundance of rules and regulations notices everywhere. Even one warning of the cctv, really? Not very comfortable settee and chairs showing their age. Beds were small even for my partner, purgatory for me being 6'2". Shame really lovely setting and in good location."

"Beautiful location. Cottage had all we needed and the walled garden was just out of this world! So appreciated fresh vegetables on a daily basis. Staying early September, with no instructions on how to get the heaters in the property to work, the property was a little cold for my elderly parents. We did not seem to b3 able toget cold water out of the taps without running it for many minutes as I think the cold feed ran alongside the hot. This meant we had to put tap water in the fridge to get it to the required temperature.Lack of Internet was a real problem if you need to work and television reception was very poor.I would stay again tomorrow because the location was beautiful and a wonderful place to escape from the pressures of life in general. The vegetables in the walled garden were such an added bonus, any other problems in life just faded away!!"

"Overall excellent location, great accommodation, quiet, free fruit and veg from the walled garden!Only niggle was creaking single bed used by my son which disturbed his sleep but he survived :-)"

"The location and garden environment for the Appleloft is amazing, and a high part of its appeal. The equipment levels of the kitchen are superb too. Where it might gain higher scoring comes from the double bed size and lounge comfort. Oh, and a bit more shower consistency too. Hope this helps with the future."

"Very welcoming venue, especially for our well behaved Dalmatian who enjoyed the extensive grounds. The cottage was beautifully furnished and was not overlooked closely by other guests. Glad the weather was dry as I have no idea how I would have dealt with wet outer clothing or shoes. It should also be noted that the parking was away from the cottage, so bag carrying could be an issue for the elderly or weak or those who liked a lot of luggage!!"

"We couldn’t have made a better choice, this cottage was perfect, beautifully furnished and comfortable. The gardens are a wonderful oasis of tranquility just the place for a relaxing holiday surrounded by wildlife. Thank you Katy and Kevin for your hospitality and the wine and delicious homemade scones. We also appreciated being able to help ourselves to the produce in the veg garden. There are some lovely beaches and walks in the area as well as private gardens to visit. We look forward to returning!"

"The location was perfect for us as we like to get away from it all and the area was lovely and quiet and the Estate grounds were lovely to walk around. The walled garden must be a fab place to wander round in the summer months. However the cottage is alright for anyone that likes dark furniture, we don't. I would love to return but would choose a different cottage. Due to difficult circumstances for us my granddaughter arrived first and reported that the person she spoke to was a really helpful person."

"Really lovely cottage. Katie, the owner, very friendly and helpful. The cottage is very well equipped and includes extras like dishwasher tablets, washing machine liquid and tea coffee and sugar. Not forgetting some delicious scones. Lovely walks. Probably best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in."
