About this property

Panoramic sea views from the tranquil gardensPanoramic sea views from the tranquil gardens

Collingwood is a well appointed annex offering a relaxing environment in the unspoilt hamlet of Maidencombe, on the outskirts of Torquay. The south facing gardens boast panoramic views over the beautiful Babbacombe Bay, which is within a miles drive of Collingwood.

The beautiful 400 year old Thatched Tavern is nearby offering hearty meals in the cosy bar and fine a la carte dining in the restaurant. The Orestone Manor Hotel is also nearby and is reputed to have one of the best restaurants in Devon. The restaurant’s English a la carte menu uses the hotel’s home grown herbs and vegetables and fresh local seafood.

With the exhilarating coastal path nearby and the hills and tors of Dartmoor within a short drive, Collingwood makes an ideal base for walkers to relax after a long rambling day. The popular beach resorts of Torquay and Teignmouth are within a 15 minute drive, offering a choice of sandy beaches and a selection of shops, bars, restaurants and attractions.
Unfortunately this property is unable to accommodate children or any persons under the age of 18 years old.

...complete our South West Coastal Path. The welcome we received from Jill and Mike was lovely and they were on hand to help if needed. The location of the property is amazing, the view from the property and the garden is unrivalled. The interior and the facilities are perfect. Roomy, plenty of storage, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The only problem, which wasn't in our case, could be the awkward access from a busy road with no footpath. The bus service from the road is good but the walk to the bus could be a problem. I need to stress that this wasn't a problem for us. Parking is outside the property which is perfect. The whole experience was excellent and we felt lucky to have found Collingwood. Submitted by lesley on 30/09/2016

...for a few miles then look out! A tight turn left into a very narrow lane of only 3 properties - our holiday home, Collingwood, is the last one. Wow! What a wonderful spot, nothing but the sea in view beyond the cottage boundary (just a bit of a drop!). The owners Gill and Mike, and of course Poppy, were on the spot with the key and lots of useful information. Their friendliness (and beautiful garden) put the cherry on the cake of our holiday. Oh how we wish we could stay longer! Submitted by Marilyn Miller on 12/09/2016
