Dart View Cabin in Totnes, Devon, is consistently praised for its stunning views, peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, and cosy comfort. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches from the hosts, including a welcome pack. The cabin's location offers easy access to local hikes and the town of Totnes, with several mentions of its suitability for dogs. The unique outdoor bath is a highlight for some, despite its seasonal limitations.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cabin is frequently described as immaculate, indicating a high level of cleanliness that guests are very satisfied with.

The location scores highly due to its breathtaking views, proximity to Totnes, and the abundance of local hikes and attractions. However, the mention of a steep path could be a minor concern for some guests.

Comfort is well-regarded, with the cabin being described as cosy and comfortable. However, a few guests noted limited space and storage, slightly impacting the score.

Facilities are generally praised, especially the outdoor bath and well-equipped kitchen, but the bath's inaccessibility in winter and the small kitchen size lead to a slightly lower score.

Guests frequently mention the thoughtful gestures from the hosts, such as welcome packs and dog biscuits. While these are highly appreciated, it is politely noted that such gifts are not guaranteed.

About this property

A hidden hideaway with views over the River Dart

Set in tranquil surroundings overlooking the historic market town of Totnes, this hillside hideaway is ideal for a couple planning to explore South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (aonb). The cabin enjoys spacious living areas and the use of a private garden, home to a hammock and even an outside bathtub for restorative soaks under the stars.

This bright and airy wooden cabin is trimmed with quirky soft furnishings which, combined with its functional layout, help to create a comfortable, homely atmosphere you might struggle to pull yourself away from. Curl up in the delightful lounge/kitchen/diner for lazy brunches, film matinees and romantic meals, before calling it a night and heading to the sanctuary of an en-suite double bedroom that enjoys lovely views of the surrounding landscape. The view is even better from the decked area within the enclosed private garden, offering a hammock for summer lazing, and a deep bathtub perfect for a dip before an al fresco supper.

The cabin stands within 1 mile of Totnes, a historic market town brimming with independent shops, pubs and eateries. A bridle path at the end of the garden takes you on the scenic route to the equally attractive village of Ashprington (2 miles), a fantastic introduction to the South Devon aonb that follows the River Dart to Dartmouth (13 miles). Here, you’ll find stunning coves, a castle and vibrant streets.

Lovely comfortable cabin in a great location with stunning views. It was private, cosy, with a small secure area for the dog. Good walks from the cabin and recommended walks from the friendly owners. Totnes is a short walk away and has good independent shops and places to eat. Ideal place for visiting coast, Dartmoor and river walks. Good value for money for a stay in July. We would definitely stay again. The cabin is well organised but we found there is limited storage for clothes, however we always take too much! You need to be fairly fit to manage path down to the cabin with bags and if walking to and from there due to the hill.
