… ½ mile from Slapton, a south-facing, hill-sheltered, Grade II listed, detached thatched cottage with ancient origins. All around is a large, mostly lawned garden, full of primroses and daffodils in spring, with meadows beyond. Immediately in front, a paved area (table/chairs) with gates to the narrow approach lane and stone steps up to the lawn and orchard (fantastic picnic/snoozing spot) with sun loungers and chairs.
Inside, bags of character including knobbly walls, lopsided low lintels (some below 5’), two sets of stairs and slate floors downstairs. Snug living room with inglenook (woodburner) and TV/DVD; kitchen/dining room (dishwasher, microwave, oil-fired Rayburn for cosiness/hot water) with handmade units, low beam (5’10"); lobby with toys; utility room with washing machine, tumble drier, freezer; shower-room (suite). Stairs up to three bedrooms – a twin leading through to a landing with children’s little twin (5’ x 2’6" beds, limited clothes-storage space) and bathroom (suite), through to a double (5' bed) and steep spiral stone stairs back down to kitchen. Dogs permitted in kitchen only; no pets permitted from Easter to October. A gorgeous hideaway cottage.

"Just back from our 4th time at Langford down, loved our stay again in this superb area of the South Hams. If possible we will book again next year as i have not found a more tranquil part of the county to have a holiday."

"Perfect cottage in a perfect location. Beautiful surroundings and clean throughout, with all essentials provided. Would not hesitate to visit again."

"Langford Down Cottage is delightfully remote and peaceful. On a still, starry night it is just possible to hear the sea from the garden."
