… in Slapton, on a winding street close to the heart of the village (shop, pub, 150 yards), a charming, 17th cent., Grade II listed, thatched, detached cottage. Thoughtfully restored, knobbly walls and ancient beams remain. Behind, a raised suntrap patio (table/chairs).
Door into slate-floored porch (freezer, space for coats/boots/wetsuits), through to kitchen/dining room (dishwasher, microwave, larder fridge); shower-room (suite, washing machine); 5 steps up to living room (woodburner, TV/DVD/video); airy sun room (table/benches) with steps up to the patio. From the kitchen, steep half-turn stairs (unsuitable for people with limited mobility) up to two bedrooms – off the first landing is ‘The Cabin’ (5'6" lintel), quirky and fun with porthole door and bunks (3’, top bunk quite high - not suitable for young children), TV/DVD, limited clothes-hanging space; a few more steps up to large landing (double bed for alternative sleeping - no privacy, washbasin) leading through to the master double (5’ bed) with washbasin, sloping ceilings, lowish beams and limited clothes-hanging space. Loading/unloading only outside. Lane parking possible nearby; free public parking, 700 yards. Cosy and fun and great for beaches or exploring.

"Valley Cottage was the perfect place to stay for me and my boyfriend. We have visited Slapton a few times previously so knew the location was great. The cottage had everything we needed and had a quirky layout which we very much enjoyed! The outside terrace area was a lovely bonus when the sun was shining! Would definitely recommend, and stay again!"

"Valley Cottage is a beautiful thatched cottage in a sleepy village. The cottage had all the facilities that we could have wished for and everything was clean and tidy. We were particularly struck by how quiet it was; no traffic, few neighbours. The village was a good base for local walks as well as trips further afield to places like Dartmoor, Dartmouth and Salcombe. "
