About this property

Poll Cottage is full of charm, well-equipped and presented throughout. Set over two floors, the cottage sleeps six people in three bedrooms, with one well-behaved dog also welcome. The cottage retains much of its original character including its open fire and references to Salcombe’s nautical history.

The cottage is accessed from Robinsons Row, a pedestrianised alley just off Fore Street, with boutiques, cafés and restaurants on the door step. Want to visit the beach? Good news - the East Portlemouth passenger ferry is just a two-minute walk away, and takes you to the opposite side of the town, where you can enjoy the sand between your toes.

Step into Poll Cottage directly from Robinsons Row alley. The tiled entrance hall leads to a cloak/utility room, with a WC, sink, washing machine and tumble dryer.

Continue through to a bright carpeted living room with a flat screen TV, DVD player, iPod dock CD/radio as well as ample seating.

Moving through to the kitchen, there’s an electric cooker and a hob for cooking hearty meals, as well as a dining room table to sit and enjoy them at. You can also access the small rear courtyard from here.

Upstairs are three bedrooms; the master has an en-suite shower room and king size bed. Bedroom two has a double bed, and bedroom three has two 2'6" single beds which on request can be zipped together to make a king-size bed. There is also a family bathroom on the first floor with a bath, shower (over bath), WC and wash-hand basin.

Enjoy relaxing days around the harbour or adventure filled days sailing Salcombe’s waters in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. What more could you want?

Salcombe is a popular destination for watersports enthusiasts, walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea. There are several pretty beaches within a short distance, including North Sands and South Sands, plus the coves East Portlemouth on the opposite side of the estuary, just a short passenger ferry ride away. Also on your doorstep is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, coasteering, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe, take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking on the South West Coast path.

There were issues with the upstairs radiators not working and the rubbish from the previous occupants still being there for the first couple of days but these were dealt with efficiently when I contacted Coast and Country.

Some of the reviews regarding cleanliness concerned us but I’m happy to say it was absolutely fine. The cottage has three good size bedrooms and the front living room is a nice airy feeling room, good size with nice sofas etc. It does need a bit of paint in certain places but this didn’t spoil our stay. Our only negative and it’s not a deal breaker is that the kitchen is a little dark as it’s only got the doors to the small courtyard to allow natural light in. It is however very well equipped. No cheap IKEA throw away stuff here. Mostly John Lewis I would have said. The courtyard furniture does need an upgrade but again, not a big deal. All in all a lovely stay and would book again.

Great for a teenager too, who needed some independence and could go for a walk in a safe and friendly area. The only very slight issue was that someone from another house put their recycling box on our doorstep and left it so we didn't want you to think we just left our recycling. We would definitely come again and recommend the cottage!
