About this property

… tucked away at the end of a private drive on the edge of Newton Ferrers, 800 yards from the shops/pub and picturesque creek, two attractive, Grade II listed cottages converted from barns on a 16th cent. farmstead, once home to the Bishop of Exeter. The cottages are smart and welcoming with a clever combination of original features, high apex beams, wood floors (rugs) and modern comforts, each with own small garden, beautifully planted for privacy by owners who live in the farmhouse next door (no farming now). Across the gravelled entrance drive, shared acre of grassy meadow (mown paths) and children’s play area (swings, slide).

Parsonage Farm Cottage (arrow 1) is a neat, detached ‘upside down’ cottage on two levels, said to have been the Bishop’s sleeping chamber for the farmhouse behind. At the front, pretty, enclosed garden (table/chairs, barbecue) with 2 slate steps up to glazed double doors and two further steps (top stairgate) up to open-plan living/dining/kitchen, cosy and inviting with smart red sofas, TV/DVD; small kitchen area neatly fitted in one corner (slimline dishwasher, microwave, gas oven/hob) with handcrafted units. Downstairs (top stairgate), two bedrooms – a double (5’ bed), and a neat twin (wall hooks for clothes-hanging); smart bathroom (suite, shower over bath). A homely and welcoming base.

  • Mrs D Keable

"Great little cottage with pretty courtyard garden for a holiday on edge of village with pub in walking distance, and a good range of dining out options in nearby villages. Very peaceful and quiet. Most helpful and welcoming owner who suggested some good walks and places to visit. Excellent position for touring the South Hams, Dartmoor and Cornwall, and perfect for a walking holiday."

"Fantastic holiday accommodation, really well done and cosy. Andy and Carrie, the owners, were on hand and very helpful but not obtrusive. Great location for walks and National Trust properties in the area, Dartmouth within reach too. Definitely on our list for a return visit and would recommend to others."
