About this property

This 18th century terraced cottage is located in Noss Mayo, facing the river across a lane. With homely comfort, period features and designer fabrics and furnishings, this is charming accommodation. Traditional stable doors lead into the sitting room, all cosy and snug with a sofa bed for convenient sleeping arrangements. The two en suite double bedrooms are on the two levels, with a smart kitchen on the first floor where you can open the back door to the garden on a sunny day. This garden at the rear is terraced, with steps taking you up to a sunny elevated decked area where you can see the river between rooftops. You have the bonus of a second outdoor seating area down by the river, accessed across the lane and with a table and chairs. You need only to stroll 200 yards to relax in one of the friendly pubs, which offer a tempting menu too. Plymouth has all the city amenities you could wish for, with restaurants, a theatre and history to explore. Around the village are lots of activities to experience, from sailing to paddle boarding, riding and tennis. And of course, the lovely coastline is the focal point of this South Devon region, with a beautiful sandy beach at Mothecombe and a brilliant beach at Wembury for rock pooling, swimming and visiting the marine conservation centre. With all this surrounding the cottage, Cherry Tree Cottage is a lovely place for a relaxing break.

The tiny, pretty village of Noss Mayo is hidden away on the southern bank of the Yealm Estuary and is home to two good pubs. Across the water is the larger village of Newton Ferrers, and you can get between the two villages by a causeway at low tide and a seasonal ferry that operates a triangular route and calls in at the SW Coastal Path, Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers. Newton Ferrers has a local butcher, chemist and Post Office. The village pub has fantastic views across the water towards Noss Mayo and the creek. The area is blessed with many walks that meander along the waterside and across the fields, while to the north Dartmoor's high tors and open spaces beckon those who love wild country. The city of Plymouth with its shops, Marine Aquarium and Barbican quayside area is just 10 miles away.

Cottage has everything you need. The icing on the cake would have been a bigger TV. The current one is very small and the sound is tinny.

The location is amazing and we loved sitting in the garden area behind the parking space.

It was our first visit to this part of Devon, it won’t be our last. We loved Noss Mayo. We were totally charmed by Cherry Tree Cottage It’s just perfect! Beautifully appointed, and well maintained. There were only 2 of us, and we made use of all the space, but can easily see a family of 4 or 2 couples being comfortable here & still having plenty of space. The ground floor master bedroom was lovely & spacious, plenty of storage space, lovely comfy bed, large en-suite bathroom (shower over the bath) with a washer & tumble dryer in the large storage closet off here. Lovely comfortable lounge, a huge selection of DVDs and some family games for guests to use. Well equipped 1st floor kitchen/dining room for self catering. Good sized fridge with small ice box plenty of room for a big shop (added advantage of a second fridge/freezer in the outhouse/shed should you need more room) a hallway with plentiful coat hooks leads to double bedroom 2 and en-suite shower room. The back garden is accessed off this level ……an explosion of colour with an abundance of hanging baskets/tubs and beautifully well kept flowering plants & shrubs comprises of a small decked area with a shed and a handy rotary drier with steps off taking you up to a loved top decked area that captures the evening sun & has views over to the river. At the front, there is a bench directly in front of the cottage and across the lane to the cottage there is a handy pull in parking space (big enough for a large 4WD) and behind this another wonderfully kept “secret” and very private garden outdoor seating. Which gives both sun & partial shade from morning right through till early evening. A truly lovely cottage that you fall in love with at first sight & it doesn’t disappoint at all.
