About this property

A desirable lodge in the prestigious Salcombe RetreatA desirable lodge in the prestigious Salcombe Retreat

Eden Lodge, 9 Salcombe Retreat, has been designed by an award-winning team and offers high quality accommodation with a real home from home feel. The homes have been positioned to provide a sense of privacy and yet, at the same time, maximise the views from the living room through floor to ceiling windows.

Eden Lodge was personally specified during the build process by its owners, and as such, is completely bespoke and has many ‘extras’ in keeping with its coastal and maritime location. All of the framed artworks in the lodge are original photographs taken of the local area. The lodge contains a comprehensive collection of local maps, guidebooks, Blu-ray DVDs and a small selection of games.

This idyllic location is surrounded by National Trust land in an area designated as an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The lodge has been finished with a contemporary feel to its interior that enhances its country and coastal setting.

The beach at Soar Mill Cove is a 15-20 minute downhill walk away and provides a haven of tranquility. There is a beautiful sandy beach which is surrounded by cliffs. There are also numerous rock pools to explore, and beautiful clear blue waters to swim in. You can also enjoy breathtaking walks on the South West Coast Path which takes you along some of the most unspoilt coastline in the country. It is also fantastic for bird watching, with regular sightings of Gannets and Peregrine Falcons.

Salcombe harbour is a 5-10 minute drive away and offers fine restaurants, bars, cafes and individual shops and galleries.

...loved the cliff walks into Salcombe and Hope Cove with our dog. However if not a walking fan, definitely a car required for the winding lanes. Submitted by Sandra on 03/10/2016

... Eden Lodge is VERY well equipped with everything you need for a lovely stay & all items are of high quality (something we have not found at any other holiday rental property we have been to before). The location was as expected....nice & quiet and away from the hussle a bussle....just what we were after. This holiday included our little puppy who throughly enjoyed herself on the beach at Soar Mill cove (even if it was a bit of an energetic walk back!) I was pleseantly suprised by how clean the poperty was (especially since dogs were accepted), having never taken a dog with us before we weren't sure what to expect, but this property exceeded our expectations (no evidence of any previous pooches!).,...fantastic! We have just 2 little niggles with this property that we feel only fair to mention: 1) The hot water - we did find that the hot water was a little on an off......The shower would start nice and hot but then go freezing cold then back to nice and hot several times during a 5 minute shower. We guessed that this maybe due to the (lovely & perfect) powerful showers pumping the water through quicker than the boiler could heat it. 2) Internet access - Whilst we did not come away to use the internet, the service was extremely poor for anyone wanting to use the internet to stream music or films or indeed do some work whilst away. (Something that didn't really cause us an issue, buy might do to others). We really did have a lovely stay & would definately not hesitate to comeback to Eden Lodge again soon (hopefully the sun might shine a bit more for us next time too :) ) Thank you The Coombs's The Dunk's And Rufflette the Schnauzer Submitted by Sarah on 05/05/2016

...Salcombe Retreat. Blessed with beautiful September sunshine, we spent everyday out walking with our dog. Spectacular coastline walk on the doorstep to Hope Cove. Recommend the Hope and Anchor for great lunch. Another wonderful place to eat is the beach hut at South Milton sands. If you like seafood, this is not to be missed. The beach hut is informal, with shared bench seating, so you must be prepared to be social in this retro chic restaurant. Do not miss the opportunity to visit Burgh Island, great beach here also. Be prepared for very narrow roads, difficult if you drive a larger vehicle. Be aware that if you have a dog you are not allowed to leave it on its own at any time, whilst you go out For dinner for instance, this was the only restriction that compromised our otherwise fantastic holiday. We went out for dinner together when we got back home. Submitted by Peter on 14/09/2015
