About this property

A period house over 3 floors with breathtaking views of Dartmouth and the River DartA period house over 3 floors with breathtaking views of Dartmouth and the River Dart

Woodbine House is a traditional two bedroom house which lies a short way up Wood Lane in Kingswear and overlooks the River Dart from almost every room.  A full width balcony which enjoys the afternoon and evening sun is accessed by French doors from both the living and dining areas, and provides breathtaking panoramic views.  Stylishly furnished, it has been awarded the prestigious ‘four star platinum’ award by Visit England. Situated in a peaceful setting the house is just a short walk from the ferries across the river to lively Dartmouth, and the marina car park.

From the delightful setting of Kingswear alongside the River Dart, guests are perfectly located to explore and discover the natural delights of this area. Take a ride on the Dartmouth Steam Railway, winding along the banks of the river and then along the Paignton coastline. Relax on board a boat trip up to Dartmouth, taking in the spectacular rural views and array of wildlife en route. For those of a more active nature join the South West Coastal Path as it undulates and winds its way to Brixham, challenging but ultimately rewarding with unrivalled coastal views. Along the way stop off at Coleton Fishacre, owned by the National Trust and the former residence of the D’Oyly Carte family and home to a 30 acre garden.

Across the river from Kingswear is the historic naval town of Dartmouth. Easily accessible by the regular foot or car ferry and a great reason to stroll through the narrow lanes and discover the array of galleries showcasing local art. The Britannia Naval College can also be visited on certain days along with the remains of Dartmouth Castle, at the mouth of the River Dart.

...comfortable bed, efficient fridge and freezer. Sensational views, just an idyllic environment. Superb communication /planning through Blue Chip. Have already booked to return next year but if we could make a couple of minor suggestions -hooks on bathroom door for robes, bath mat as need really LONG legs to get out of bath and a bit dangerous for short people like myself. -Condiments such as vinegar, sachets of sauces and a 4 slice toaster as we ate breakfast upstairs but could not eat together due to it holding only 2 slices. Many thanks, Joe and Delyth Phillips. Submitted by Delyth on 19/09/2016

...weather was really good for the end of August which does help a good deal. The house was really good once we got used to it. The view from the lounge was stunning and never failed to make us gasp.We were very happy with the house - although getting to it was very difficult with our luggage - our car was too wide to go down Wood Lane and parking was difficult with there being a Regatta on at the time. That gave us later on a first class view of a air display of a Typhoon Jet - and a splendid fireworks display. We felt much fitter after our week there going up and down the north face of Wood Lane - once we got used to the steep hills we took them more in our stride.I would like to think we would visit again perhaps for longer as there is a lot to explore in the area. I hope we do just for the view! Submitted by Janice on 05/09/2016

...stayed at Woodbine House in Kingswear overlooking Dart Marina. Our journey took longer than expected and so we arrived much later than we had originally thought, but when we arrived the accommodation was so good and the view was breathtaking that all the stress of the journey melted away. Blue chip holidays made our experience a little easier by leaving us their wonderful welcome pack that was very much appreciated. We would recommend Woodbine House with it's outstanding views and beautifully maintained accommodation. I would also say that as an area it is very handy for all your trips in Devon when you have a young family. Over all, a very enjoyable stay. The Rainy family Submitted by Wendy on 08/08/2016
